I could be entirely wrong, but my first guess would be to try the mage guild master to train resist. Just about any magery shop has one... There is a thieves guild master native to the southern tavern old brittain (the portion east of the river). From the bank head east till you cross any of the bridges linking new and old brittain. Immediately after you cross the river, head directly south you cant miss it.
