Re: Swinging on the run.
Dodging arrows by avoiding range is definitely accurate based on the same code that is used in the demo. State 2 and 3 both apply a range check before being called in the timer. State 2 occurs one second before state 3 and the same range check that was called for state 2 is called for state 3 only ...

Re: Swinging on the run.
Dexers have been severely gimped. Let's assume everything about the patch is 100% accurate-- why not be accurate about the coveted Hally mage as well? Regular heal didn't always heal from 10-13 HP. Remember that? I sure do. It healed from 6-12, sometimes 13 HP, even with GM eval. ...But this is the ...

Re: Combat changes (Archery)
Man, I hope you are in the minority. Combat now is wayyyy better. I play mostly warriors, mage on occasion. I can say now that my favorite template, the Archer Fencer, is gonna have a lot more success with archery functioning this way. Everything is just much much better. I am excited about it and ...

Re: Quarter staff swing speed = inaccurate
Someone just attacked me on foot at the cem. He managed to run all the way down to the guard zone without dying. I had the qstaff equipped and blocked his path 4 or 5 times. Something is not right with this patch. The swinging is all off. For hally mages it will work great. Dexers have been screwed...

Re: Combat changes (Archery)
Between a small bug that was found in the implementation of the "no swing advance while moving", and the lag that was plaguing us until this morning, prior experimentation may be outdated. Can you update us on how weapons are operating now? Both Ranges and the other issue you raised regar...

Re: Quarter staff swing speed = inaccurate
Lag issues and a small bug with the "no advance on moving" have been fixed. Can someone provide an update on the status of quarterstaff speed? Does it seem right now? What is the definition of "stopping?" I think that might be the crux of this problem. I can run up to my mage an...

Re: On bugs / "Era Accuracy" and other stuff..
The bow's maximum effective range is not static, it decays as the bow is used. I really had no idea. This was taken from the decompile and is in the patch notes, but it was added late. Yes though, if your target moves out of range of the bow while the arrow is in flight your shot misses :\ ...

Re: On bugs / "Era Accuracy" and other stuff..
I discovered a bug regarding archery just now. I test fired 50 arrows while my mage was running around to check out the range and see if it had changed at all. It turns out, if you run just a few tiles away from the archer (not even nearly off the screen), the archer will miss you 100% of the time. ...

Re: Combat changes (Archery)
I was going to test the accuracy of this on the demo but I couldn't get it to work. Ive noticed on test center that if you fire a bow shot at someone while they are in range and then they move out of range before the damage applies the shot always misses. Is this accurate? Also, if they move out of...

Re: Quarter staff swing speed = inaccurate
Maybe we are all just adjusting here, but as a third voice, I as well have been experiencing what seems like a deeper issue then just mere game play mechanics. I really do not have much more detail to add to the authors already current concerns. That said maybe us dexxers must adjust and adopted ne...

Re: Quarter staff swing speed = inaccurate
Upon more testing this morning I think my issues with q-staffs and swing speed was only caused by some of the lag issues we've been having. I hate to be the debbie downer here but I think you're being optomistic. I notieced this the second I started swinging my Qstaff in combat. Derek: Was the Qsta...

Re: Quarter staff swing speed = inaccurate
I feel, with this specific weapon, that it was more accurate before the patch. Was it dead on? probably not. You guys are the experts. But I am certain it was more accurate pre-patch. I'm not talking about any other weapon here. Just the Qstaff. I can't run alongside and hit. As mentioned before, e...
