Re: So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Can't give Kavian a "pass" because he admitted to faults in a resignation letter.

I think quite a few of us knew he wasn't a saint and didn't need to see him admit to it in a farewell post.

Maybe I'll start playing here again now that he's no longer staff.

Re: Great Lakes 1998 - 2002

Maybe I had most of my encounters with BC after their prime but they were bad, bad, bad.

Not that I would ever make some kind of claim that I was great, though. It's just that B*C never gave me or the guild I spent almost all of my PvP time with any trouble when we fought them. Loot piñatas.

Re: Town killed, looted and griefed.

My first experience with UO grief was being blown up by a tinker trap in Britain. Also had my first experience with a nice player right after that. A few weeks later, another random and of kindness befell me. Ran into someone who was quitting and they gave me their house and everything in their bank...

Re: In-Town PK'ing

A little tidbit of information for you. Guards do not come to slay an evildoer by default. Someone, be it an NPC or player, has to call them to get their attention. It is quite possible to attack someone in town and not be instantly guard whacked if you have an understanding of NPC sight lines and w...

Re: Town killed, looted and griefed.

I'm not wounded. I just realize the difference between fantasy, reality, and the gray area this shard represents where those realms come together. This shard is exactly like real life in that if the possibility for evil exists then evil will exist. QFT. Response not related to the quote: Coming her...

Re: my house got looted....

Speaking of accidentally opening tinker traps... I used to keep a bunch of tinker traps all over my abode as part of my theft deterrent protocol. I knew where all of them were and was very careful around them. A couple of them were unsecured, locked down boxes on tables that blocked the entry way in...
