Magery
Re: Magery
I'm not one of the people who knows exact statistics, but with GM magery you will fizzle 8th circle more than not, and you will fizzle 7th probably 20% of the time.
I'm pretty sure that at 94.1 real magery skill, it's impossible to fizzle 6th. However, it's been a long time and memory may be a bit hazy.

Re: Magery
show real magery is 100 and eval 100.. med is only likr 96 could that be affecting it.. I make sure my guy always eats 100 int... I have no idea why I fizzile so much like 5 minutes ago it took 7 casts to get a EV up...
Re: Magery
like i said, it's not uncommon to fizzle 8th circle more than not with GM magery.
7th is possible but not that common
if you're fizzling 6th, make sure you're not interfering with the spell casting with razor arm/disarm

Re: Magery
I believe the 8th success rate should be 50%... however I must be the most unlucky person for the past 18~ months, having fizzled at least 70% of the time.

Re: Magery
If it really is 50% 8th circle fizzle rate at GM then 7 consecutive fizzles would be as likely as like fipping a coin and getting 7 consecutive heads. 5 is my ev fizzle pb...but..era accurate I'm sure. Looking at the whining on osi over the years, it's the road to doom to start rationalising what sould be changed.
Re: Magery
record your next 200 EV casts and show us the results
Re: Magery
so you guys are saying i'm just not lucky?

Re: Magery
You will fizzle 8th circle a ton at GM. On OSI in the 100+ skill years, Im pretty sure I remember fizzling on EV's until at least 110 magery, perhaps even closer to 120.
Re: Magery
According to T2A Wiki and my own calculations, at GM magery you should successfully cast 7th circle about 90% of the time and 8th circle about 42% of the time.
Showing my work: 7th circle starts at 66.1 (at which you should be successful about 2%). According to wiki, every point increase your chances by 2 or 3% (my calculations are based on the lower numbers). It will take almost 44 points to make GM. 44 * 2= 88. Add that to the 2% you already have and you have 90%.
8th circle starts at 80.1 (2%). It will take almost 20 points to make GM. 20 * 2= 40. Add that with the 2% you have and that makes 42%.
Now my calculations are based on numbers that are not exact which make the answers not exact. None-the-less, do these numbers seem about right?

Re: Magery
Whats weird is sometimes you'll fizzle 8 energy vortexes in a row but you'll never cast 8 energy vortexes in a row.

Completely agree.Kabal wrote:Whats weird is sometimes you'll fizzle 8 energy vortexes in a row but you'll never cast 8 energy vortexes in a row.
Guyver: don't just use the 2% number. Do the math on the other circles. Here's how many skill points are the difference between 0% and 100% success:
level 1: 39.0
level 2: 44.0
level 3: 44.0
level 4: 44.0
level 5: 44.0
level 6: 38.3
If you use 44 skill points = 100% for level 8, you get around 45% I think.
Re: Magery
I actually did some tests on vortexes a while back lol . . .

Re: Magery
Well, as I said before, the numbers I used were not exact; I was using an estimation. The reason I was using an estimation was because the numbers given were not exact. The chart you provided shows that the min/max differences of all the circles are not the same. While circles 2-5 have the 44 point gap, 1 and 6 do not. Would it then be safe to assume that the other two circles may not follow the 44 skill point difference? (It does say that circles 1, 7, and 8 work differently.)Mikel123 wrote:Completely agree.Kabal wrote:Whats weird is sometimes you'll fizzle 8 energy vortexes in a row but you'll never cast 8 energy vortexes in a row.

I do not mean to sound contrary (sorry, I'm not sure that is the right word). I am not trying to say that you are wrong and I am right. I actually think we both did quite well. It seems to me that we took this problem and worked it two different ways. We both used estimated numbers (or is there something I am missing?). You took the numbers on the higher range, and I took the lower numbers (it said between 2 and 3 percent). I believe that it is probably a little bit higher than 42% and maybe I did not say that clearly (for which I appolgize). However, I think it also has to be a little bit lower than 45%.
What do you think?
