I think it's pretty sweet (pvp). I dunno how old school you are, but I was on Chesapeake from the day the game went live, to about 1998. My char name was "WiseGuy".

I was in MiM for a long time in the very beginning of UO: http://www.mimguild.com/

I was friends and part of KoC for a short while: http://www.keepers-of-chaos.com/post/Ke ... story.html

of course I remember MiM and KoC. EPIC guilds, My char didn't develop until 98-99. I ran with Imiscor and sum -S- members and loved very minute of it.
Had two characters, named Mat Cauthon-DtA and Coke. I witnessed many MiM battles on the trinsic bank roof as a noob, you were probably involved in. Thinking of playing, just wanted to know the status of this shard, especially the pvp scene. I see many shards dropping like flies after a few months.

we're 2 or 3 years strong here. I'm not in on the leet pvp sceen, but there's plenty of people that are. there's regular automated tournaments, as well as field pvp. several guilds have towns that you can usually go to when you're looking for a fight.

you won't regret starting here. There's plenty of people that offer newbie housing to provide safe macroing & get you on your feet. hop in IRC and feel free to ask any questions that you have.

welcome in advance to the shard

Thanks for your help. I've made a decision to start next week after finals. I'll ask around to get started so I can build my char up

@ Wiseguy and Drunk Monk, looking forward to some good fights on the field. I'm assuming those are your in game names

What template do you suggest for pvp? hally/mage? swords, tactics, magery, resist, eval, wrestling, med?
Not sure which skill set is most dominant...

that's what most people are.

dexxers have some sucess too i believe, but hally mage is the most convenient.

a bard is the quickest to start to get you some gold flowing through

Drunk Monk hasn't been around since OSI Chesapeake, I haven't had the passion to re-build him. I am am active member of the Bloodrock Orc Clan though, feel free to visit our fort sometime, hohoho!

I was a Chessie player as well and this server captures the feel and style of Golden Age of UO quite well.

PvP seems active and intense. I'm more of a crafter, role player, and adventurer but I really do appreciate the constant threat of PKs and the chance to fight other players for a variety of reasons. Again, this seems to emulate UO quite well.

Yea, looking forward to seeing you. The template you suggested is exaclty the main pvp build. I haven't yet built mine yet. My in game character "Bob" is a gm mage/prov bard and I'm just taking it easy building my bank account now. I have about $275k and loads of resources at this point, so pretty soon i'll stop being lazy and make a straight pvp char. I also have a gm archer/heal/anat/theif dexxer template, but it's pretty gimped outside of guard zones (archery's pvp only really shines in town where spells don't hurt). Stealing wasn't as useful as i thought it would be. It's fun sometimes though.

also, I can offer you a place to macro. I suggest starting off on your own for about a week, and get the feeling of being a newb again. It's really nostalgic feeling killing orcs, and skinning animals, chopping wood n stuff lol. Then after you're through being nostalgic, I'd just get to the macroing if you wanna pvp.

Thanks bro, yah the music is def bringing back that old feeling of nostalgia lol
just going straight to pvp, I'll make money somehow. I started macroing this morning, although I'm leaning towards macing instead of swords. War hammers are always beast with stamina loss as well.
