Insta rez question

Post by Hyder »

Sorry if this is a noob question..

I was in Brit late at night and I saw two thiefs "A Terrorist and ME" doing there thing in town.. After they would get guard whacked. They would insta rez i that same spot in a few seconds. also saw them kill 7 or 8 people macroing and not ever turn red.

They did not have anyone by them rezing and they should have been grey with a timer...

Was just wondering how they were doing it... Cuz i hate standing at the healer for 2 min when I get guard whacked. That insta rez would be nice...

Thanks

Well, typically in UO you get an option to instant res or become a ghost. If you choose instant res you suffer 'stat loss'. You lose a percentage of your skills and stats. Because of this, at some point the client defaulted to not even asking you if you wanted to res or become a ghost (ressing is usually stupid, since you'll die again anyway 9 times outta 10).

If you wanted to instant res, I am sure you can find it in the options somewhere.

As for killing macroers without going red. They would not go red until the macroers came back to their computer and reported them.

Insta res reduces skills permanently by a fixed percentage quite similar to stat loss. It will not go past your base starting skills and stats though. This is and never was a wise option for ressing in the past. There is a specific amount of how in and far between for using this option.

The reason the thief never went red is because murder counts are manually reported by the victims. This means that they were more than likely not at their computer since they were macroing. However, when they come back or log back in the murder count can still be reported.

I will follow up where Ronk left off. Insta res was removed on the basis of the young player system. It was eventually wiped out of the client options altogether. This means that there is no option in the client preferences for toggling this function on or off. So we implemented the option in the menu itself. We are planning on adding an in game panel to handle multiple options such as this instead of relying completely on commands.

They also may have been griefing some other thief that is in the thieves guild, which is why they didn't go red since thieves can't report people for murders.
