I played on UOGamers 2003-2004 (which I think was its prime?) and the only time I remember more than 1000 players was during stress tests, which people got rewarded for multiclienting as much as possible. However what makes people stay is staff, a server isn't good unless the staff is legit and hybrid , revelation, ipy, etc all screwed that up. That's one of the reasons why this server is so popular cause staff isn't corrupt. UOR will fail because the staff there isn't legit, take Telamon for example, he was banned here for certain reasons that break rules, so what's to keep him from doing the same as staff on UOR.

He quit due to shard population and also told me he was tired of being rich and missed being poor. He was also banned regularly so he may have had his accounts banned too. He wants to come back but is waiting for the pop to rise. The days of N-S with him were the best times ever for me here on uosa hands down.
