How much gold do you have

Post by randale »

In this case, in cash- cold coins, and real estate (house deeds) I've had at most about 2.5 million. Just heard today I should start scouting IDOC's.

Well, don't use the begging skill, that sucks. Use provocation, go to Wrong and have Ogres kill each other. You'll get some decent gold.

I'm just curious really. I can understand if people didn't want to tell me how much money they have in REAL life, but this is a game, wonder what the most anyone has ever had on this shard. I didn't know until about a week ago that gold piles that are kept in the top of your bank don't count towards the total of 125 items per bank box, but is there still a limit?

On the one hand, I would not deny genuine and honest curiosity.

On the other, this (style of) question is not exactly licit: bluntly, it's a blunt demand for details that some/many might consider private.

Even so, perhaps there is a quantity of candour which some might find refreshing (or, at least, I perceive the possibility of such an interpretation).

In any event, to what extent does it matter; according to what criteria, within what categories, are you intending to "keep score"?

Speaking for myself, I have enough money, liquid and otherwise: according to what I want, anything I want I can/could buy, and I could purchase any such even at an extremely steep overcharge; of course, most/all of any such thing(s) I already possess in quantity (or I possess the ability to provide it to myself). Now, if I acquired a compulsion for hoarding rares, for example, that would change real quick and, within the new context, my greater-than-adequate-wealth would quickly become entirely-inadequate-wealth, in a blink.

Ehh, I couldn't give 2 shits for any rares, myself: I don't care about pixels. Any/all other folks who find interest and challenge in acquiring/trading/leveraging rares, carry on, your own game is all about what inspires you to play; yes? As it is for me; to our mutual benefit, we do not compete over the same item(s).

Randale, your question kind-of smacks of "Bill Gates just learned he's worth ~billion dollars; he asks if he's won".

Randale, I'd advise you to determine your own success/shortcomings by your own measures. Relying on other peoples' measures is kind of like gambling in the casino: the weight (of odds, at least in the casino, which is far more honest in these respects) is already overwhelmingly against you.

I guess to 'sign-off' I want to say, "Randale, you demonstrate that you care about this shard, and that you want to be a competitive player, and that you want to continue to explore all the stuff you don't already know ..."

Randale, sometimes you exasperate me but, any time you do exasperate me, I am compelled to remember what I've "" immediately above.

In some respects, you have already won; please consider that diversity (or anything else, for that matter) can only sprout from success.

P.S.

Re: "can only sprout from success": except for rot; rot can only sprout from Soma.

Didn't want you to feel left-out, bud.

This is a game I don't get why people hide so much info but hey it's a game we get to play anyway we all like.

I have 325k in the bank, more crap and gear then I know what to do with. I think I have had roughly 3 million tops on this shard and I did enjoy collecting rares at first but after an accidental house collapse that contained everything that I had been working toward disappeared just like that I realized that stuff didn't make the game fun to me. It was just the game itself and the people I met.

Here is a candid answer to a candid question: I had thought the question, 'too candid'; at least in one instance, I'm wrong.

Folks, when it does happen, believe it or not, I find it refreshing, and an opportunity to re-assess whether or not people really are as awful as I'm convinced they are.

They are: rare people, some of whom are as rare as gold and diamonds, prove that they are exceptions; specifically, the exceptions that prove the rule.

On one hand, dazedman, I can't imagine that you feel 'honoured' because I've singled-you-out. I would ask that you consider what I've said, and understand that I speak with a measure of approval and respect.

Carry on!

Accounts wide, probably only 8 million at the moment.
Kind of gold poor for a vet but...
As for assets, jeeze nearing"ish" a billion. It's like 600+ million or something like that.

I think I have approximately 200K of my own right now, and a lot more invested in houses for the K^D guild.

I would say that I am cash poor, and real estate/resource "middle class" at the moment.

I'm thinking of keeping gold in the top part of my bank, not in containers in the bank, wish it was just gold piles-anywhere in your bank box, period- because gonna have to keep containers on top of those piles (it'll be like Scrooge's money bin! I don't envy anyone who ever had to dig through 60K piles to find something!) Nothing beats pure cold hard gold, since you could, in theory have 125 castle deeds, but still more in gold piles if they are in the top.

I once held over 100 mil while saving and making deals, and I know of players who have also. Honestly, the logistics of it causes you to consistently alternate between deed and gold form. Unfortunately, there is no way to really keep a clean bank of gold piles when you are constantly buying and selling. It's just everywhere until you feel like finding something specific under them. It's like a god damn carpet bomb castrophe, but in a good way!

Are 1 million gp checks worth any more than face value?
