benefits of GM Item Identification???

Post by uolarethian »

This may have been asked before but I did look and was unable to find the answer. Are there any benefits of having GM Item Identifications other then not failing? Thanks for any help.

just a thought: sometimes when i identify an item twice i get a slightly higher price estimate, perhaps gm gives high price estimations = more gold?

Also, you will still fail on occasion with GM item identification.

Makes sense.

Neophyte Merchant : This is a surpassingly accurate warfork of force. It's price is 309 gold.
Vendor : Okay, here's your gold, sir.

Grand Master Merchant : This is a surp. Acc. warfork of force. But I see here carved in the handle that it once belonged to the Head of Lord Blackthorn's personal entourage! Given it's historical relevance, it's price I would estimate to be at LEAST 415 gold!
Vendor : omg.

You also get the title of Grandmaster Merchant, which is nice.

There's another tertiary benefit, but that's not something to discuss.

If you sort your loot by hand, GM item ID is great in that you don't burn as many ID wands, ie:

Use Item ID
Pause 5 secs
(target item, drag it to correct container)
Use ID Wand
Pause 5 secs
(target item, drag it to correct container)

The only benefit of GM Item ID is the ability to afk macro the identification of items and not worry about switching out ID wands.

If you hunt with any degree of regularity, you will be up to your eyeballs in Identification charges and it becomes a non-issue.

ID wands don't have a cool-down period.

I know this is an old post, but I am currently working one of my chars for item ID just for the fun of it.

If GM and it the item is ID'd will the ID show for others? I seem to recall that if an item was identified by a GM merchant, the item would be identified for all who single click the item.

Is it the same on uosa?

To be honest, I feel I should know this already but with the huge piles of ID wands I collect farming I never needed to know ;)

It will not show up for anyone else but you, they will have to id it with either the skill or a wand.

Huh, interesting.

Thank you..

I remember back in 1999 I think it was, paying someone on Atlantic to ID my magic items for me cause he was GM and it would unlock the item ID for me having him do it, infact for anyone who looked at the item with a single click.

Thank you :)

There are a few prepatched items out there that are id'd and show for everyone. I have at least one magic club like this.
