T2A Graphics

Post by Hemperor »

I mentioned this a long time ago, why someone didn't just upload the old .mul files to replace the newer graphics... people said it wouldn't work so I left it at that.

However, on another shard's site they advertised a patch for Pre-T2A graphics..essentially overwriting your verdata and art files. This replaces building and trees graphics mostly and a few items. Pretty sure it's all accurate well into UO:R

Run around with it for a bit and it really adds to the classic feel. Don't forget to turn off your filters for added nostalgia!

Why not do gump.mul as well? T2A never had that silly little alignment of blocks where hats and jewelry go for ease of removal. We had to click the 1 pixel to use/remove that ring!

That would be clientside, unfortunately.

Thats clientside too, swapping out any of these files would simply be a client modification, and just as easy I might add. The only issue is that the old art in the newer client would still show the items equipped on the side-bar, no way around this short of using an older client, (which sadly, we cannot do here).

That's what I meant by clientside.

You can delete the box graphic but then you would just have the items floating there anyways.

Oh Indeed! I was just looking up stuff about UO on youtube and came across the old intro. It had the treasure chest that opened. Old memories flooded back. So there is no way we can get this instead of the boring castle eh?

The chest was for only clients version one I believe... it is completely client side (client.exe)

If you want to relive it so bad I suggest you download Batlin's hacked demo, you can also use the more oldschool character creation screen. Both the old login and character creation screen look far better, yet EA manages to screw everything up.

The fixed trees and buildings really do changes things though, helps a lot.

Its much more noticeable in towns, the walls are more 'blockier' and bland, not to mention the walls are really short (maybe a few pixels higher than the character.) The trees look a little more fake as well, and less detail to characters.

Easy to do, but worth it? Depends if you like the old graphics for some objects. I tried them, then changed them back. Just not used to seeing the game in such an old, rough state.
