First Annual Fall Festival of Minoc Summary

Post by Boomland Jenkins »

The First Annual Fall Festival of Minoc
Fall Festival in Minoc's Mount Kendall Miner's Camp was held on October 24th through October 26th in celebration of the Fall season and the recent success of the Covetous Cleansing party. With Covetous cleansed, Minoc's division of Britannian Mining Company has been able to successfully mine the Covetous caves once again, returning Minoc back to a state of economic power.

Without the time and dedication of the [LAW] Guild, Fall Festival may have not been as great as it was! Many of this event's mini-games were improved by or suggested by members of [LAW]. Big thanks to Anarcho for helping me each day with the events to ensure everything went off (more or less) without a hitch!

Below is a copy of the speech made in-game, on the third day of the festival which summarizes why Fall Festival was hosted by Minoc.
Mayor Burnside:
"Welcome all to the ending of the first annual Fall Festival! Each day we held a celebration for the sacrifice of all our brave warriors and civilians alike in the imprisonment of the Evil Lord Lutsyn and his nefarious gem-encrusted abominations."

"My city, Minoc, is a city founded on the virtue of Sacrifice. A virtue that is comprised of the principles of Courage and Love. It is only fitting that in the wake of Lord Lutsyn's terror, that you good people of Sosaria chose to find the Courage to give yourselves in the name of Love."

"Today we have with us, one of those great representatives! Fiona of Delucia, who once sat on the Great Council for Minoc long ago. Why don't you tell us a little about what you are doing now in the township that is Delucia?"

Fiona:
"Hello brave townsmen and women! Since the need for such a council was no longer required in our great reign of Lord British, I have taken refuge in the township of Delucia. There is a great need there for tending to the warriors that keep the hoards of evil from invading our sacred lands."

"With the help of LAW, a guild of goodly forces, we have been able to provide the reinforcements to keep the monsters at bay, so much so, that we were able to provide a little extra help in the Fall Festival! Please enjoy our sacrifices that the many paladins and warriors of our township of Delucia have given, and rejoice!"

Mayor Burnside:
"Now with Covetous cleansed, Minoc can return to it's roots. In honor of this, tonight we will host a Free for All battle to the virtue of Sacrifice!"

Recent Discoveries
Lord Lutsyn can now be found in the Yew Prison system until he can be put on trial and fate determined.

A strange journal was found on a bench at the festival grounds, Lord British's scholars are trying to identify the author and to seek out it's meaning. If any scribes come across this journal, you may want to create a copy of it.

Halloween is coming up and as Britannians are preparing for our yearly trick or treating contest, a darkness is brewing. Be extra careful while on the roads this Halloween weekend!

Pumpkin Relay Race Prizes
Each day we held at least one relay race where players had to one by one, run a pumpkin to the top of Mount Kendall, placing the pumpkin on their plate and had to run back down the mountainside before the next player could go. Along the way were players faced dangerous traps. The team who brought the hungry miners at the top of the mountain the largest number of pumpkins were the winners. "Team Jackolantern" was the team in orange robes. "Team Scarecrow" was the team in yellow robes. There were a total of 4 hues available. Winners received one at random. There may or may not be "rare hues" because of the randomization. That's for the market to decide.

On the final relay race, we added some surprises. Monsters and the ability to let everyone on their team run the mountain at the same time It was crazy and filled with death!

Over 80 pumpkins were fed to hungry miners, and 100s of corpses were sacrificed on the mountainside.

Pig vs Pig Fights
What's Fall without large piles of living bacon? On UOSA, we had a pig-pen available with large pigs that anyone could tame and put head to head against each other. The owner of the largest pig received a prize. All pigs were then sacrificed!

Each official "largest pig contest" had a special item available for the winner. Three "glazed and bronzed" pigs were given out titled "Fallfest Pig Out" + 1/3, 2/3, or 3/3 depending which Pig vs Pig tournament it was given out in.

"Fall Festival 2014" Grab Bags
These bags were given out to attendees at various events. Some players received multiple, for attending multiple events. Not all events gave these out though. The contents in these bags were randomized but included: fall-themed common foods, gourd bombs, pumpkin bombs, squash bombs, a silver coin, 2 types of farmer hats (widebrim hats), a pitchfork, and a shear of hay. The rarest item you could have gotten from this bag was a Jackolantern deed, with less than 0.1% chance to receive one.

==================================

Bobbing for Apples
Bobbing for apples was a "slot machine" self-served game at the festival grounds. It cost 5,000 gold to play and had the chance to yield a variety of items including: regular apple, rotten apple (2 hues), a granny smith apple, a pink lady apple, a red delicious apple, a golden delicious, silver coins, and quality magic weapons or armor.

A trophy was given to the person who guessed (most accuracy) the total number of plays that the bobbing bucket received. A grand total of 2,075 total plays were made from Friday through Sunday night. This trophy is titled "7x guesser".

Player Marketplace
Players were given an opportunity to set up a vendor in a tent on the festival grounds to sell their wares.
