is there anything on this server to encourage new players or none power gamers. That want to play a T2a server that has game that reflects "the way it was"?

I am having the hardest time with the server. I can't go into major towns because of town killing and thieves (I lose connection a lot)

I havent talked to a single person outside of town that didnt attack me on site

You need to join a guild. Go to the guild recruitment part of the forum and check out some of the active guilds here.

T2A is a pk infested era .....moreso here than it was in the actual era due to certain perks.

I'll give you a tip though. You need to find a nice secluded area to macro such as vesper or cove town.

Also for starters you need to possibly work musicianship and provocation so you can farm enough gold to buy regs for magery.

If you are asking if you can get a free ride to the top, i'm going to say no. If you are asking if it's possible to get to the top if you try.....yepper.

I have already stated my reason for only logging in and he already knows about it. There is more happening behind the scenes than you know. You will soon see it my son.

Try using some of the lesser-frequented towns, like Jhelom and Skara Brae. Both have pretty much every amenity that you can find in Brit. (Yes, both have mage shops.) Money's really not that hard to come by - visit the Yew sheep fields (all in guard zone) and sell the wool to NPC tailors or make fancy shirts to sell.

Anywho, pretty new to the shard myself, (6< days). I've found a few selling points:

1) Economy is rich, and more diverse than BOD rewards and ridiculously hued staff handouts.

1.5) No (or very, very few) ridiculously hued staff handouts. (Can you tell I hate UOgamers?)

2) Skill gain requires patience, effort, and time, if only for gathering the resources needed. When you finally finish a template, there's a great sense of reward and accomplishment for new/semi-new players. Like the old days of OSI, players here can actually look back on how they raised a skill, and had fun (hopefully) doing it!

3) Statloss ensures that murderers actually have to possess some degree of skill and cunning (or at least a ton of gold) to thrive in their chosen profession.

4) Lastly, having friends/hunting partners is extremely important, as the wilderness is full of peril. I've noticed some really tight knit guilds out there.

I am going to disagree with GuardianKnight here. Assume there is nowhere safe. If you are new ask for a house you can macro in in game and for people to show you the ropes. Don't isolate yourself in a lonesome macro in a shady part of town no matter how safe it feels.

Really? I manage to get by. And I'm not a "power gamer" at all! (my template is designed solely for roleplaying). My tip is to get a mount, carry a few trapped pouches (for escape from paralyzes...use an alt to trap them for you if you don't have magery), invest in hiding skill, and hunt in safer locations (less $$ spawn, but less pks). Even forests have plenty of monsters to hunt, and I've never bumped into a pk in the wilderness. In pk hotspots, pks have pursued me but have never killed me once. I discover them before they discover me.

Afraid of thieves in town? Don't carry valuables and don't stand still! Afraid of being killed in town while afk? Make sure you macro "guards". There are some places in towns that players will not find you! So look for good spots. But be warned, some people *think* they have good spots but they've been killed by... me. But if you don't carry valuables while macroing, you have nothing to lose except no skill gain.

If your main is short on cash, make a crafter (tailor and fletcher are safe). Then, transfer the gold to your main (if it's the same account it's still possible, but you gotta be creative)!

but I'm afraid I can't help you with your connection.

I've been on the server a week (Thanks Psilo, I'm still around btw!)

Getting PK'd in towns often? What the hell OJ?

Yeah Stay out of Britain. Its the scumbag capital of Britannia, that's why its the big city hehe.

I can vouch for Skara Brae, it's not a ghost town at all but very peaceful.

I was attacked one time but I was not AFK and I ran to the guard zone and got that dragon or drake guard killed hehe. DAMN YOU GARY BUSEY!

I started 2 weeks ago. All I did was keep a toon with a horse logged out in Yew and I logged in every few hours to harvest wool. Then each day I macroed making shirts and sold them. Last night I hit 6x GM with 95 resists on my Tank Mage. So yeah, its not that hard to prosper, I am a bit of a power gamer but I have only actually played long enough to set macros. Too bad its all for not, I won't be able to play UO again till after I beat FF13. Maybe I'll make another tank mage while I do that. Oh I have a house as well, so no excuses if you played UO before. Completely new players might have a difficult time.

Here's a good way to get more newbies/old veterans quick playing here fast!

Post threads in the "off-topic" forums or "other games" forums of MMORPG websites. Try to do mostly "sand-box" type MMORPGs since UO attracts these types of players. There are tons of sandboxes being made, so we need a UOSA thread at every forum. And no, the thread won't get deleted usually as long as you post it in the "off topic" type forums. My thread is still alive in the mortal online forum and it is obviously an advertisement.

I know at least 15 random people who have joined from the Mortal Online forum after I made a thread with screenshots, features list and other stuff to advertise UO and especially UOSA's philosophy. People who have never even played before!

That's only 15 I know of, who knows how many actually joined that I don't know about!

Here's an example of the forum I posted at and the actualy thread for an example:

best way is for everyone to vote for the shard daily.

BTW..UO Hybrid does something that should be illegal(should get them kicked off the top 100/200 UO sites) They pay their players to vote for them. Not just a one time payment or a little coin here and there.,.on UO Hybrid players can make 10k instantly when they vote for the shard (this can be done one time a day). You can make 300k a month on UO Hybrid doing nothing besides voting for the shard.

putting how unethical it is aside the DEV's on that shard likely have never taken a introductory course in economics because if they did they would know that by flooding the market with that much gold they are devaluing their currency. On UO Hybrid there are the millionares and the newbs except even the millionares gold isn't worth anything. Half of them just blow it at the casinos.

Hey guys just like to say im new from UOGamers. I know Viet Is spelld wrong its a joke-a bad one. ...on me. lol. anyways i started playing test today VIETNAM UNDEFTD ( Undefeated). I have to say i feel like im learning the pvp pretty fast ,or maybe i just fighting a noob, right now in the real server i only have a miner/smith to make money until i can pay to make my hally mage=VIETNAM UNDEFTD. Any advice for ingame ( even tho i know this is a -die-til-u-learn- style) i wuld appreciate any helps and tips, etc. i got the next 3 months off vacation so ill be playing frequently in between beach time. also when my hally mage is complete ill be looking for a high-rank pvp / joke around and cool people guild that are fun to play with but also not scrubs at pvp. I'll not reveal my identity on Hybrid, DFI, etc. But I will say if u were hardcore in PvP u knew me i didnt really have any enemies, cause im laid back, but a few people taking dying seriously. and dont one of those few to be here and be greifed so much that i cant get a good foothold in this game.
Thanks for readin this guys. SEE YA IN GAME!

me and 3 other friends (soon a 4th, 5 of us total), have just started on this server. Most of us have been playing nonstop, and will def be recommending the server to other friends. One of the best way to get people in a server is to simply get in a friend, then they get in their friends, and the chain continues (assuming people have friends!).

Just created a new thread about UOSA at the Mortal Online forums since they just redid the forums.

Now more people will be viewing the thread since there is no "MMORPG" section.

Come check it out, sign up and support my new thread!

Mortal Online forums(being a sandbox) brings us tons of players so I need this thread bumped a lot with positive feedback about the shard. Thanks!
