Due to the problems with the NewNet IRC network, we're planning a move to a new IRC server.

The WildIRC network, while small has been offering us unparalleled support for this transition.

The new server info is:
Server: irc.wildirc.net
Port: 6667
Channel: #secondage

The nickname and channel registrations are a little different, but support is very available from the network owner and other staff in #CService for Services / #Support for general IRC Help.

UOSA Staff will continue to idle NewNet to pick up stragglers.

the url link to the new channel is:
irc://irc.wildirc.net:6667/secondage

The Java Chat feature will be updated right away.

To switch servers immediately, just issue these two commands in IRC:
/server irc.wildirc.net 6667
/join #secondage

Thanks!

I have no idea how IRC works and I'm having trouble making the switch, can someone talk me through it in a little more detail?

I tried typing the commands into the old IRC but it just keeps saying "Disconnected from the server"

WildIRC is having some DNS trouble this morning. I spoke with the network owner and they are on top of it.

I'm unable to connect at this time as well.

I just discovered you can use:
/server irc.wildirc.org
to connect, pending the dns fix for the .net domain

Theres free irc clients out there. Or just use the Webclient from the top left corner.
