From seeing some screenshots around I've noticed that a lot of people use the stump patch. So I have a list of questions.

1) Is it legal here?
2) If so where can I download it?
3) Does it help that much?
4) What else does it do besides turn trees into stumps?

1) Is it legal here?

kinda sorta yea? I don't think anyone will ban you for using it, infact I suspect a large portion of our population uses it, and i have myself in the past (I now rock the oldschool trees!)

2) If so where can I download it?

I have the links on my computer at home(am at work) but I am sure some one can provide a link to it here,

3) Does it help that much?

I found it reduced lag a small amount when trolling through the woods, but the big improvement was not running into random trees as well as it made placing houses much nicer

4) What else does it do besides turn trees into stumps?

You wont be able to see flowers and some other random static items that this patch essentially eliminates, also Christmas trees will just look like a stump and gems :P

GMs have stated its a frowned up mod, and I have noticed quite a few times that screenshots in-game showing missing trees get deleted from the forum until the poster submits a corrected version.

Personally I don't see it affecting game play as much. I've seen some mods that change dragons to all red or white npcs so its easier to manage pets. To each his own I suppose.

We don't have a policy forbidding client side graphic modifications (currently official UO servers actually endorse graphic hacks), but we do not allow screenshots of these mods in the regular forums.

It's not expressly forbidden, but I would prefer that it not be promoted. Please to not post links to it, or post screenshots in the regular forums.

It's my opinion that it's not worth the trouble, and makes the game look horrible.

Please do not post links to these data files in the forums. It's easy enough to find via google.

Answers all of my questions. Feel free to delete the thread if the need arises.

The big issue with this garbage is that it makes robes and other large items much smaller, so thieves can see what you have hiding under them. This modification should be very much illegal.

The only approved UO utilities are:

* UOGateway

All other programs are strictly prohibited.

I would assume that a client modification, particularly one which provides an in-game benefit to players, would be included in this catagory. Staff should say something about this, so everyone has a clear understanding.

staff already did make a comment on this, i quoted it.

Client side graphics mod != third party utility, advantage or not.
