A problem connecting to the shard and a question

Post by Farlist »

Hey, I used to play UO a while back and I am attempting a return.

I downloaded a classic client from a link by another shard and razor as well, when I attempt to connect to the UO Second Age shard I open a client and when I finalize my character creation the game gets stuck and I must end the task to exit the game.

What can I do to solve this?

And the other question is about gameplay, do you have a skill cap? do you have a bounty system? is PK'ing and looting enabled? I tried to find a list of gameplay changes/preferences but I could not, maybe I missed it.

Is pickpocketing allowed? how many people do you have on the shard and how many online on any given time?

I was trying to find answers to all this elsewhere but I could not, this is my first attempt at finding a shard for myself so any tips would be great.

Thank you.

hey, Farlist
I'm new here myself but skillcap is 700 (statcap 225), PKs can kill/loot you and about online, please, open http://www.uosecondage.com/Stats + check the pic on the top (Server status).
Also check this link: http://www.uosecondage.com/Connecting (connecting topic)

I'd strongly advise using the UOSA client download. I know some people here are savvy enough to run multiple clients/versions of UO, but I know for myself I am not one of them. I downloaded the UOSA client and just stuck to this shard... very soon you will realize this is the best shard anyways, and it's not worth using another client to try to also connect to other shards :-)

Anyways the UOSA client removes a lot of potential issues with other clients, such as world map inconsistencies, etc., that can lead you to getting "stuck" somewhere and killed, when your client map differs from the server map.

Thank you both, I will look in the wiki but I find it hard to find answers that way : p.

I did see for the first time ever on a shard (even when I used to play) an updated bulletin board from no more than a month away.

So this looks good, I am trying to bring a few people to ultima online with me but since none of them played before, so things like needing to talk in order to buy and sell instead of clicking might be an issue (although for me this is the opposite XD)

Thanks again, I think I will just take a leap of faith and go all out on this shard : p

I am a bit timid about the 700 skill cap but I think this would be awesome for true RPG style : ).

http://download.uosecondage.com/UOSA_Client_Setup.exe

all in one installer for our client which i also strongly advise you to use if you are playing multiple shards then i would install our client to a different location. Then you can tell razor which uo.exe to run depending on which shard you about to log into. If you have no intentions of playing another shard then i would just install your old one and get that one. As far as the ruleset etc here we try to emulate the second age aka t2a expansion which you find plenty of info on these forums for questions viewforum.php?f=42 for guides viewforum.php?f=9 or on our wiki http://wiki.uosecondage.com/
if you are running vista or windows 7 i advise you to check out http://wiki.uosecondage.com/Razor#Razor ... l_settings
also you should uncheck the box in razor that says "use smart cpu reduction" by default this option is enabled which will slow down your client as just about any computer you would be using today does not require this option to be checked.

If I may Just two more questions, are there any emote commands such as "[e yawn" to show *Yawn* and see the player yawn? and is it completely impossible to click on vendors and such in order to open their options?

This is not for me, its for people I hope to introduce the game to.

Thank you : )

": emote" will emote.

To communicate with vendors and such, see: http://wiki.uosecondage.com/Commands
There is no "options" dialog available.

I have been playing on the shard for a while and I truly think this is the best one out there (from those I have seen)

Just to clarify at the time I was asking about things such as:

"[emenu" (to open a menu of emotes)
or
"[e sticktognue" (the toon sticks out its tongue and makes a noise accordingly)

I am assuming this is not era accurate, I only posted this to better explain myself.
