Two Problems

Post by chumbucket »

First, I often lock up when tabbing between UO and Chrome (actually while using IRC via Chrome and the uosecondage.com IRC).

Second, I get the following mesage A LOT while I play:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I don't know about the exceptions, but I remember my UO windows on my Windows 7 computer freezing a lot when changing over to other windows. The problem appears to have stopped completely when I changed my Windows 7 theme from an Aero theme (which has transparency) to something else. To do this:
  • Right click on your desktop background
  • Select Personalize
  • Scroll down--there are "Basic and High Contrast Themes", of which I personally selected Windows Classic b/c I'm old school (although I imagine windows 7 basic should work). Anyway, select one of those.
If this doesn't work, note that before I fixed it this way, I did find that if I initiate a razor macro while UO is frozen that it unfreezes it.

I don't know if this will help with the exceptions you are getting. I wonder if you could play with the compatibility settings? I don't use any compatibility mode on my Windows 7 machine, and it seems to work fine.

Thanks. I am trying that, but I don't know what compatibility mode is.

If you right click the Razor shortcut icon and select properties, and then go to the Compatibility tab, you can check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" button, and try some of the different options there. This could create more problems then it solves, but I think it might be worth a try if you are still running into exceptions.
