chumbucket's Tales of Adventure: Final Edition! [not really]

Post by chumbucket »

The world has once again caught up to me, and this time it ain't screwing around. What this means for me is that I have to cut back on extracurricular activities such as anything that involves fun. What this means for you, dear reader, is that I won't be around to steal your katana and let you call me NEWB FAG OMG. (I know you're disappointed!)

I've had a lot of fun here. This is a really great shard. Derrick and his team do an incredible job, and there is a nice community of players. When I first came here, I had two plans: (i) to make a red pk that mostly focused on killing (but not looting) the helpless and (ii) to make two thieves (one stealth, one mace). I never really got into the first due to my lack of PvP skills and the inevitable giant stat loss that would come down on me when I faltered, but I obviously ran pretty hard with the second. And it reminded me why the thief is by far the most fun template in UO: Being a jerk can be fun if you do it right. But, even so, acting as I do in game is normally against my nature. I have a natural dislike of other UO players and that helped. But here it was particularly hard. I maintained a very small do-not-steal-from list, but I liked most of the people I stole from as well. Even Hemperor.

So here's my plan. I want to get as much as I can into my bank accounts. Accounts never die. (One day I may make an unannounced comeback. That will be in a month or two at best. More likely, it won't even happen.) I am giving away my main house located near a really nice cave to a newbie miner, just as it was given to me when I was a newbie bard. I am selling my vendor house. Top bid by tomorrow evening gets it. Check the trade forum! I am selling off what few goods I don't have a use for on my vendor a pretty good discount. I will give away what remains to someone at random. After I sell the house and give away the goods, I will officially be gone.

I'll still lurk the message boards on occasion, and I'll be sorting my screenshots for one last set when I get some time. (I take A LOT of screenshots.) BYE!

Sad to hear. Even with you being a "jerK" many people would say you are one of their shard favorites. Thanks for the fun

I had assumed not, but if anyone in the guild wants to take over being GM, which involves nothing but adding folks and deciding ultimately who to kick, then I suppose it can.

Hope things turn out ok. It was good to have someone help mix things up(and blow things up). I decided to go through with it, too. CoD 4, yeah! Later

Aw goddamnit. I loved reading your stuff and following you around sometimes to laugh at how you fucked people over, but in a good way. One of the reasons I came back to UO was to see stuff like this that you can't do in new MMOs, no matter how badass you think you are. UO truly has something that the others lack: proper assholery.

You'll be missed.
