Tried to search but couldn't find an answer. How come I can't smelt the iron ore that I mine? Is it a skill thing or what? All I can smelt for ingots is weapons and stuff. Really confused....

You should be able to attempt to smelt iron ore at 0 mining skill - I just did a test and one of my characters with 0 mining can do so (albeit unsuccessfully).

Coloured ores require the relevant mining skill before you can smelt them of course. ( http://wiki.uosecondage.com/Mining )

Are you getting a system message when you try to smelt ore? If so, what does it say?

smelting rates are bassed of mining skill like jill has said you need a tool /forge to do it i suggest tongs highly due to their weight. i also recommend getting a gm tinker to make all your mules tools exceptional quality last alot longer or if your really new ask someone with them to make you a bunch of tools.

Nope, don't need anything to smelt ore. Just dbl click ore -> target forge.

Oh ok. I was double clicking the hammer then choosing smelt then clicking ore. Intead of double clicking ore and clicking forge. You didn't sound condescending cause I'm just that dumb. Thanks all.
