Magery/Resist Question

I am following the guide on the Wiki to train magery and resist at the same time. Currently, my skills are:


Magery - 56.4
Resist - 61.7

I went through 150ish regs last night casting lighting on myself, and my magery did not raise at all. Resist went from 60.6 to 61.7.

Should I be casting EBolt now? I was using the guide below.

(the ranges below apply to both skills)

0-30 : Train from NPC Mage* (costs 200-300 gold)
30-55 : Cast Fire Field* (1 black pearl, 1 spiders' silk, 1 sulfurous ash)
55-60 : Cast Lightning (1 sulfurous ash, 1 mandrake root)
60-82 : Cast Energy Bolt (1 black pearl, 1 nightshade)
82-100 : Cast Flamestrike (1 spiders' silk, 1 sulfurous ash)

Yes, switch to ebolts.

That should get you to 80. then flame strike.

Lots of pearl and shade will be needed.

Real or Shown?

When working skills you should always consider shown skills, as that is what's calculated for your success. In this case, I'd venture a guess and say that is your real skill and shown is closer to 62, and as such should be switching to e-bolt.

When I click 'show real' my magery is 56.4.

When that is not checked, it is higher, but I don't know the exact number. I always do 'Show Real.'

Yup, that's your real skill (skill without stat bonus), however a failure or success is calculated using your "shown" skill (when the box is unchecked), so most guides will go on shown skill since it will apply regardless of having 100 INT or 25 INT.
