Medieval Times Tournament (November 11th, 4pm Pacific.)

Post by SirEricKain »

Here ye, Here ye!

Welcome to "The Medieval Times Tournament Event"

Image

This is a weekly held medieval themed tournament, sponsored by the Immortal Lords. We will attempt to recreate a medieval tournament of knights. As such there is no magery, no stealing, no magical items, no healing or potions allowed in any given event. You can eat food. You will only be permitted to use the equipment provided by us for each competition.

THE EVENTS

Archery - Bows and arrows will be provided. Archers will duel against each other, at a distance of 10 paces, to the death.

Jousting - Armor and weapons are provided (must provide your own mount!). Two competitors at a time will run at and passed each other while mounted. You will attempt to hit each other over and over until one falls off their horse or quits. No stopping in the middle. A pole arm weapon must be used. You must wait for the command to charge from the event host before every charge.

Melee - This is a weapon of choice battle between two warriors. A 1v1 elimination format tournament. Equipment is provided for competitors.

Magery - A duel between two wizards. Only spells are allowed. No magical items, healing spells or buffs permitted.

Ugly Pageant - A classic beauty pageant, only uglier. There will be 3 panel judges to decide whom is the unfairest in all the land, both men and women can participate.

LOCATION = Trinsic Square, near the Sons of the Sea Shipwright.

Dates and times to be announced. Events will take place on different days with plenty of notice.

5K entry fee, funds will be distributed among the winners, one character per participant, same character for all events only. Any evidence proving otherwise will result in an immediate loss and could result in banning of entry to any future events sanctioned by (IL).

You do not need to take part in all events. There will be prizes for each event. Your odds of winning greatly increase with the participation of multiple events. There will be point totals for placement in each competition. This will determine the overall champion.

Leave any thoughts or comments below, assistance with preparation or donations for equipment/prize pool are indeed welcome.

Special Thanks goes out to Orevamp, Sylver and Nordic-Icemonkey.

Nice idea, Eric. My main concern is that without a little more variation in what we are allowed to use, kryss weilding dexers are going to sweep the one vs ones, and halberds are going to totally own the jousts.

Warriors will be provided with a weapon/shield of their choosing, as far as Jousting goes... I've seen first hand how efficient a long spear is against full platemail, it is not a huge advantage, luck of the hits landing will be the deciding factor.

Also, since we're going with a medieval festival flavor, cockfighting, bearbaiting, and small squad combat might also prove to be entertaining.

Small Squad combat was definitely a consideration, this was a huge part of tournaments in medieval times.

The others are too cumbersome for me to take on at this time in addition to the above events.

Current prize pool, collection of force Halberds and Bardiches compliments of Raven our local smith.

There is no admittion fee for this one event! This is the start of many events to come from the Immortal Lords.

Mayhaps I will consider a entry fee in the future to increase the prize pool for the champions of these events.
