Patch 48 - July 23, 2008: Pets and Stables

This patch corrects the accuracy of tamed creatures and the mechanics of stables. Many of these changes were presented in this thread.
There is also a wealth of T2A creature information here
More discussion ensued here during the testing phase: Proposed changes to Tamed creatures

Pets and Stable Changes:
  • Int and Magery increase for Nightmare
  • Dragon magery reduced
  • White Wyrm can rummage corpses
  • Drake tame skill req. increased
  • Drake can be angered on tame
  • Adds Mass Curse & MassDispel to higher level mobs
  • Pets lose more loyalty on failed command
  • Pretamed creatures will agro evil mobs and murderers
  • Pretamed creatures will be removed a little (25%) faster than they were previously
  • White wyrms now have old look, with both body tones. (Tamers Forum)
  • Tamed creatures will be "Content" when first tamed.
  • Feeding increases loyalty every feed
  • Loyalty loss on failed command increased
  • Increased pet teleport radius when gating
  • Tamed creatures now susceptible to inadvertant moongate travel
  • Reduction of anger animations when a creature is angered from taming
  • Slightly increased tame time
  • Regional Stables implemented. Stables no longer work like banks, you will have to pick up your pets at the same stable you left them. Players will no longer have max they can stable, but each stable can only hold so many creatures in total.
Non-Pet releated changes:
  • Efreets will now drop lvl 3 t-maps
  • Tournament master will no longer say signups are open while event is in progress
  • Bug in Event scheduler that caused the shard crash Sunday night has been fixed.
  • Increased the number of monster camps globally.
  • Orc camps added to Dagger Isle
  • Disguise kit is no longer required to be in your pack to be used
  • When you are under the effects of Incognito or the disguise kit, your disguised name will now appear in guild chat. (was real name)

Is this referring to animals that were tamed, and then released?

Aye. Released pets will attack monsters and reds, but will not attack blue players, or greys.

What was dragon magery reduced to? I thought the whole point was to have no magery on them at all?

They're magery is suppose to be around 38-43. They should have enough to cast weak debuffs, poison, and lightning. They've always had magery, it's just not nearly as potent as the wyrms.. that's the whole point of having white wyrms.. you sacrafice firebreath for magic, and vice versa..

When AoS came out though, wyrms were destroyed. The ability to bond your pet made dragons twice as strong, once you gm'd their magery they were like mini-balrons.

Those are not something that ever spawned on any server, during any era. Those are just little things OSI did for fun, like events. I have spoken about this though, im hoping we can maybe get these sort of "events" in action.

Magery is primary the difference between dragons and drakes, but they didn't have much of it in era. Dragons can still dispel and their magery is closer to the apprentice level now. Becuase tamed creatures can gain skill, old dragons may still reach impressive magery levels.

Yes. we do intend to tap these creatures en event storylines, quests and special events.

Tamed creatures now susceptible to inadvertant moongate travel
we can gate other peoples pets?
