Patch 83 - Feb 2, 2009: NPC's, AI, Pets and Vendors

  • Misc:
    • Label fix for cut cloth and folded cloth
    • Event books for CTF, Double Dom and Deathmatch will only be visible if the game is open to join.
    • Disabled insta-res feature
    • Boat proximity fix, boats can now be one tile closer side to side
    Creatures/NPC's
    • Stats and Skills adjustments for city guards
      • Possible precursor to disabling guard insta-kill, currently implemented on test center
    • NPC's/Monsters/Animals can no longer push through diagonals when there are mobiles blocking adjacent positions
    • Most casting creatures can no dispel above their current height
    • Creature spawns may now be slowed somewhat in cluttered areas
      • Corpses and items will be considered clutter and may reduce spawn frequency
      • This is a feature that will be phased in over time as adjustments to spawn times need to be made to compensate for this.
      • As a result, some areas free of clutter may see faster re-spawn rates.
    Pets:
    • Patrol Command for pets
      • <Name> Patrol will allow you to target the patrol points. These can also be mobiles.
      • A pet may only have 10 patrol points.
      • Pets will only be able to reach patrol points that are within a reasonable range from each other
      • If a patrol point becomes out of range, or if the pet wanders too far from the next point, that patrol point may be dropped
      • Therefore, the last patrol point must be within rage of the first patrol point.
      • The pet will begin to wander if he's unable to reach any of the patrol points.
    • <name> guard me wasn't working correctly, fixed
    Vendors:
    • Discounts for NPC Guild members
      • The discount is 10% on all regularly stocked items.
      • The price after discount is rounded to the nearest coin, so this doesn't apply to items <5 gold in cost
      • This also doesn't apply to house deeds or any items that sell back to the vendor for more that 90% of their cost.
    • Players with 15000 fame are honorary members of all NPC Guilds
      • The same discounts as above will apply
    • Vendors will charge double to murderers on all regularly stocked goods.

Did this patch speed up the monsters? It seems like the liches and lls are moving way faster and jerking all over the place now?

There was an issue on Sunday due to this patch that was preventing mobs from moving diagnonally, but this was corrected Monday morning.

Speeds should not have been effected in this patch.

Jerky behavior has always been common problem with the RunUO distro packages. It would be nice to see this problem resolved, because it looks really awful and would be great for accuracy.

I had problems after the patch with a cursor not coming up when asking a pack horse to follow me. I got no cusor and the only way to control horses was to give the command "all follow". I would like to say you folks are on the ball and a host was there within 5 minutes after requesting help. My paypal account will be deducted for your fine work and just my way of saying thank you very much for the game and bringing back the memories that I had back in the 90,s. Now only to get married in this shard like I did on Lake Sup.. Just kidding..

I tried out the new boat proximity today, however when you get as close as possible to another boat and open your plank, you can't step out onto it. Is this how it's supposed to be?

There were a couple pet commands that were broken with the patch release yesterday, those were fixed this morning.

Aye. If you could step out there you'd actually be crossing the side of the other boat.

Just figured I'd check. I guess this patch doesn't really make looting boats any easier then. Oh well :(
