Patch 85 - Feb 10, 2009

Post by Derrick »

Much of this mornings patch was inadvertently applied last night due to the shard crash, which the final patch also addresses.
  • Creature Packs established.
    • Packs will wander together and fight together.
    • Pack members will try to join other packs if separated from the group
    • Large packs will auto divide into smaller packs.
  • Orc spawn changes on Dagger Isle, including the introduction of "packs" of orcs.
  • Some spawn modifications in lost lands desert
  • Fixed a bug that was causing animal tamers to get guardwhacked in the stables; was related to provocation.
  • Tracking adjustments to range and 'crowdedness' based on skill level.
  • Corpse names will now say "remains of..." after the corpse decays to bones.
  • Fixes tinkered trapped boxes to correctly not record trapper when they are trapped in the open within a friended house.
  • Protection for the rogue crash that occurred yesterday.
  • Spell casting has 10 tile range.
    • April 14th update Apr 14 1999:The targeting range for all spells that target people or creatures is now 10 tiles.
    • You may want to update Razor to this new number. On the "More Options" tab, under range check last target, set it to ten or less. Default is 12.
Changes active prior to this mornings patch:
  • Fixed broken boat planks
  • Fixed an issue in character creation when choosing 10 dex, characters were getting 12 dex and reduced strength
  • Fixed an error in pet patrol that caused an overnight crash last Friday
These changes will be effective tommorrow:
  • No longer need to unload a pack animal before stabling it.
  • Allows the usage of items from a locked container
  • Recall runes no longer need to be in your pack to be marked
  • Increase to Trinsic Forest creatures

Wow... i dont know how you do it man.

Thanks.

Im assuming Packs are not the same as "pack instinct" that was added by OSI bringing in different taming elements?

Aye. I meant to make a note of that but forgot. This is more like "roving bands of orcs". I don't honestly know exactly what pack instinct is, but this is not that :)

pack instinct was brought in after AoS. What it did was it super charged creatures that were near creatures of its own kind. for example, 1 Imp would doa base damage of say 25 with a flame strike. If there were 2 imps side by side, the flame strike damage would increase to a base of say 27. The more their were the stronger they became.

It is OP on current uo, because certain tamable follow pack instinct. 2 Fire Steeds together is a 1 shot kill. Their melee and spell damage is increased by like 200%

ok so i remember a patch or somthing in osi days where one day orcs and ettins would kind of call out to others in the area to help them, it was kool if this is the same kind of thing GOOD JOB.. Love this shard.

The limit to last target is it just last target or does this effect me clicking on someones health bar also ????

The razor configuration is for last target only; If the target is out of that range and you hit last target, it'll hold the target until they come into range. Razor will not interfere in manual targeting. But the new 10 tile spell range limitation does effect all methods of targeting.

This will be similar to calling out for help, but still more limited than some of the OSI AI and behaviors. Another step towards it though. OSI creatures had attractions and aversions, like people and forests and dark places etc, which I do also hope to add eventually.

No, just like copying a key, or recalling off a snooped rune, items in others backpacks aren't "accessible"
