Mercenary work?

Post by loagz »

I have a GM warrior, who has been all over, GM healing, macing, parry, etc. [lots of PVP experience]
Also have a bard with GM peacemaking, prov., etc.
i have my own equipment, however, i do not have a mage, so if you want to do something too far, would like a port
will do escort, guarding, hit-man, or any other work for money

in between jobs i usually stay close to Delucia

Look for 'Alaxander' (not to be confused with the PK of the same name), or 'Apollo'

prices vary depending on job/complications, decided on before mission
will accept half of payment before, half once completed

every bard should have peacemaking imo...bards bread and butter...love hearing some ppl inexperienced arguing with me that hiding go better instead or some bs...ive played since first week uo came out in late sept of 97 and have had bout 6 yrs of break time total if not less so ive had every char with every template almost imaginable...itll be a new player too thats never played uo before now and played for like 6 months so they think they know it all...but peacemaking is bards best skill imo...u can get a guildie to their body safely with balrons and tons of other spawn around throught dungeon hallways...keep em peaced as long as u like...but ballies u gotta tip toe cuz they attack u by movement same as daemons..but i dont see how i ever had a bard without peace on catskills now

I've literally *never* been in a situation where I wished I had peacemaking on my bard. Maybe you could elaborate a bit more on some other situations? The situation you proposed would be ridiculously easy to handle with just provo/music/mage/med, and not worth having 100 points used on peacemaking for :) Just my opinion of course, and we are all allowed our preferences... 100 free skill points is valuable, too :D

Incidentally, PEACEmaking is best on griefing bards and the sort. Not that I know anything about such dubious practices...

I've also never been in a situation where I wished I had peacemaking, and like you said to each its own, thats really the beauty of UO.
However, I must say it was useful in helping people get their stuff back during Roser's wyrm bomb at Jhelom entrance.

Other than that, I can't say i'd spend 100 pts in it.

guys need to get out more then!! haha jk...but it seriously is most helpful skill...most all bards ive shown it in action at tmaps and at tera keep ect have all picked it up and said screw eval or wrestling or hiding then...if u get trapped by monsters by accident and dont have red pots ur dead...o wait...nm ill just peace and either heal and recall or get away and do what i was before that...doing lvl 4 dungeon chests makes it lot easier especially at fire temple, ogre room, despise swamp...basically all of em except yew and deceit and sometimes hell hounds...at terra keep, lvl 4 and 5 tmaps where shit attacks u as soon as chest appears i could go on and on of the uses but to each their own...dont even need resist on my t hunter bard cuz i dont get casted on enough to panic cuz of peace as well and eval id replace with peace cuz hte things u peace should be doing the killing and the 1 that wins usually only needs and ebolt or 2 without eval to finish it off...but like we're all saying to each their own play style and the situations they get into in the game...no ones play style is "wrong" unless ur using a sword when ur gm fencing or sumthin like that heh

Haha, yep all valid stuff. I guess I just prefer using invis gear and having the 100 SP instead.

When you peace, do you have to re-aggro the mobs you've previously provoked, or do they auto-aggro back on each other after the peace wears out?

You have to re-aggro the mobs.
Basically they are "reset" so if they were aggressive, they'd start to attack you again.
