Lockpicking and Level 4 chests

Post by Mikel123 »

In my experience on SP the difficulty of the chest did not matter. However,
it did matter when it came to breaking picks. Easier chests don't break
picks that often. And when I hit 90, it was slow going....but I did GM on a
chest I made with about 85 tinker.
Lockpicking should be able to be GMed on player-made chests.
I am at 95 and there are 3 chests in Covetous that I can't
open.
Im at 95 now, Can not pick 1 of the spawns in the balron room, cant
pick everything that spawns on hyth 4 in the garg closet either. Ill
probably find more, but i havent looked.
There are 3 spawn chests that i can not open at 95 picking still. 1 in
the balron room, 1 in the gargoyle closet. 1 in shame 4.
Most people think you need GM to be able to open all chests.
I usually got for the high level chests, 400 plus gold. Shame PEs,
Bloods, Deceit LL room. T2A, Balron room.
Right now, I think the cap is around 400 gold. Sounds like it should be 450 or 500.

yea you posted another LPing thread that i posted in (i think that was you) and found evidence that even easy chests should contain 8th level scrolls. you can't get 8th level scrolls in dungeon chests, at all here (i think).

also, is the loot from dungeon chests actually era acc here, or is it more runUO? the weapons in chests are so crap, you're very lucky to see a force +15 or something. pretty much the only reason to dungeon pick is either to raise skill, or to look for tele/invis/reflect items (pretty rare to find even). masks are also really hard to find and seemed really common in t2a.
<green> grats pink and co. .... the 3 of you f---ing scrubs together can blow up a bard. IMPRESSIVE

Agree with you on all points, except the weapons. Maybe you're on a bad luck run or something, but I have found some pretty nice weapons in level 4 chests. I don't think level 4 chests have *better* weapon mods than lower level chests, but they seem to have an extra magic weapon in there, raising your chance of finding a good one.

I know I'm bringing up kind of an old thread but has this been addressed?

I'm noticed that a majority of the lvl 4 chests I've been doing seem very weak - weak as far as loot is concerned.

I've been hearing that a lot lately, though my personal experience is that at least tmap chests (which everyone is also complaining about) are the same as they were a year ago.
