I don't believe it is as I don't recall ever seeing this done in T2A. I know very very very few houses actually had containers on their door step but I think that was actually a UO:R bug.

At any rate, I attributed it to the fact that it was probably something very few people knew how to do and so very few people did it (in real T2A) and on this server everyone knows so everyone does it.

Also...on the topic of lock downs (including keys), I could have sworn anything locked down could still be used. But I can't remember the era of this or if I am just remembering angel island. Because kegs, keys, chess boards, etc...could all be used and had to be kept secure unless you wanted people to use em.

Nope, everyone should be able to use anything that is locked down. If you somehow managed to lock a key on your porch (a difficult task on non-towers, gm's routinely cleared peoples porches of lockdown-bugs), then anyone could use it to get inside.

There are 3 issues here imo:

Keyring doorstep lockdown: NEA, remove.

Lockdowns unable to be used: NEA, enable use.

Using locked down keys: NEA, "this must be in your pack to use it" iirc.

You used to be able to lock down items on your porch in T2A.

UO:R made it even easier when lockdowns were increased, especially when things automatically locked down when placed in a locked down chest:

1. Place item on porch
2. Drag item through wall into locked down chest
3. Item rubberbands back to original place, locked down

Steps in T2A rarely had anything on them. Certainly not keys. Im glad to know that, as usual, my memory isnt' faulty. Though obviously if this changes people should be given a few days notice so they can secure their potion kegs and keys. Screw the people who are afk and only log in once every couple of weeks to refresh :-)

You couldn't use keys without them being in your pack anyway.

On the other hand copying keys, as the demo clearly demonstrates, was able to be done even if it was locked down.

Lots of talk, no sources.
I use to have lots o things locked at my doors in T2A, the bigger issue is that not a whole lot of people knew the trick to do it. It then started going around that people were being banned for doing it because someone at some point used the word exploit (which it wasn't), but for fear of getting banned, a lot of people quickly removed things when the rumour started going around.

If you're going to give advice, you should probably stick to it.

If you think every damn house had a keyring on the doorsteps then you didn't play T2A.

This forum should not allow users to post phrases such as

"Well I remember.."
"Me and my friends remember this from T2A.."
"I used to have this in T2A.."

Point being: if you want something changed, provide resources and historical references instead of "I played T2A so I know."

Yeah I am aware of this Sandro/Hicha - I wrote a rather large rant about it...

The reality is though, that some inaccuracies are so blatant that any person who actually played the game can reasonably assert how it was.

This is one of them.

I'm telling from my experience. I'm not the one who wants it changed, so why would I waste the time looking up the information on it?

Also, reread what I said after that. I didn't think every house had keyrings on it. In fact, very few houses had anything on the doorsteps because barely anyone knew how to lock things down there.
