Ranks of the BPD

Post by Officer_Atraxi »

Rank Structure of the Britannian Police Department:

Chief of the BPD
This rank is the highest rank of the Britannian Police Department. The Chief has final say on all decisions and is the ultimate authority in the BPD.

Chief Inspector
The Chief Inspector is the lead detective, above all other Inspectors. Although the names are somewhat similar, this rank is below the Chief of the BPD. In terms of power, the Chief Inspector is roughly equivalent to the Ranking Officers. The Chief Inspector, along with the Chief of the BPD, must approve any Cadet wishing to become an Inspector.

Ranking Officers
The Ranking Officers of the Britannian Police Department will be considered as a sort of "Council" below the Chief. All major decisions about the guild will be voted on by the Ranking Officers in closed-door meetings with the Chief Inspector and Chief of the BPD. The Ranking Officers are promoted by the Chief. The actual ranks may change depending on many factors. At least one Ranking Officer, along with the Chief of the BPD, must approve any Cadet wishing to become an Officer

Inspector
Inspectors are similar to Officers, in that they are the regular members of the BPD. Cadets with previous experience with the BPD will be placed in this division of the BPD. Before a Cadet can become an Inspector, he must be approved by the Chief Inspector and the Chief of the BPD.

Officer
Officers are the regular members of the BPD. They are the life-blood of the Department and make up the majority of the stone. If you are an Officer, congratulations! That means that the Chief and the Ranking Officers feel you deserve to graduate from Cadet.

All officers at this rank or above MUST have a public char.

Cadet
Cadets are the newest members of the BPD. They are still in training and all strive to graduate to higher ranks. Depending on past experience, a Cadet will either graduate to Officer or Inspector. At this point, potential officers aren't required to have public chars.

Apprentice
While not an official title, the Apprentice Program allows potential recruits to build a new Officer before being added to the BPD stone. The hopeful applicant will be paired up with a currently active Officer to mentor them. Potential apprenticeships must be approved by the Chief. Once the Apprentice is added the stone, the Chief will meet with the assigned Mentor to determine if the recruit qualifies to skip the Cadet rank and fast-track to full membership. If the qualifications are not met, the Apprentice will be enrolled in the Academy as a Cadet to finish training.

Retired / On Leave
This is pretty self-explanatory. These officers are currently inactive. Officers On Leave are only temporarily inactive. If an officer stays On Leave too long, they will be considered Retired. Retired officers are no longer active and risk removal from the stone if they stay inactive too long.
