I thought it might be a good idea to seperate out the Linux and Macintosh support questions

Great Idea! I've even talked to a player or two (in the past) that use mac, and that would be willing to help out in these areas, seeing that I do not have a mac with which to test issues with. (I'll ask them to post here that they would be willing to help out)

Thanks for the separate forum.

I am a Mac user. I get by, but I'm still considering resurrecting an ancient laptop for UO purposes. I'm just not in love with Wine -- particularly the newest update. :(

I play uo on my MacBook Air 2010 with OS X Lion.
I've tried several setups:
CrossOver Games - very bad, mouse lag and frequent crashes.
VirtualBox (free) with WinXP - not bad, but high cpu usage leads to strong heating.
VMWare Fusion with WinXP - the best.

If you want to buy VMWare, it is top of the line for virtualization. If you want a free virtualization solution, you might want to look into VirtualBox. It's roughly on par with vmware in many ways.

You can also try using Wine now that it runs on OSX.

You also might be able to get some kind of a front-end for QEMU on mac, but I'm not sure.

I know you can at least install Wine with homebrew (`brew install wine`). I'm not sure about virtualbox.

I was going to make a new topic, but it won't let me in this forum. In any event, I made a video that might be useful for some folks trying to get UO to run on WINE with 10.8.
