look in razor at the column called "base skill", that's the column which you really have skill in. the "real skill" column is what shows by default in your UO skills list. so while it may look like you have skill in, say, blacksmithy, you really have 0. it's just strength/dex/int giving you a "bonus" in skills

that's what it sounds like is happening anyway

You are 100% correct. Found that out yesterday morning shortly after the post. Doh!

Update to this skill:

At 84 Base you will completely stop gaining if you do not have any armor at all on.
I had a macro run for 16 hours yesterday and forgot to add armor and i did not gain .1 ever.
Tossed some chainmail on and within seconds had a .3 skill gain

In other words... If you macroing, make sure you toss some armor on before 84.0 if you plan on leaving for awhile :)

Not to nit-pick with more macros, but here's what I've been using from 80 hiding. It works pretty well.

Code: Select all

If (SysMessage "first")
UseSkill Hiding
Else
If (SysMessage "fail")
UseSkill Hiding
Else
If (SysMessage "here")
UseSkill Hiding
Else
UseSkill Stealth
End If
End If
End If
Pause 10.0
It's handled all the cases I can see, except revealed as I've never experienced it. It also cleans up the code a bit by moving the pause to the end.

I'm not too good with Razor macros, this one is working perfectly, I'm at 99.1 hiding but it rehides me.

here's what i've been using the last day and a half and i'm already almost to 96 hiding and 70 stealth, started with 50 hiding of course

make's a 3 pace square, and of course doesn't exceed the 10 second delay so no time is wasted

you can gain stealth standing still...
walking around and someones bound to pop a gate on you and you will end up in the teleporter hall whether you want to be there or not

Has nothing to do with moving around and everything to do with your AR at a given skill level. I read the WIKI, used a Razor macro, and got 99 with out ever moving... still working on that last point.

Something I have noticed that's killing my skill gains on another character... my DEX is 10 and I'm not getting anywhere near the gain rate I was with 100 DEX. Not sure if it's a function of the DEX directly being low or if it's the DEX's effect on my modified skill. Either way it's a terrible gain rate compared to my last character.

If (SysMessage "fail")
UseSkill Hiding
Pause 10.00sec
Else
UseSkill Stealth
Pause 10.00sec
End If
!loop

Just make sure you are hidden before you start the macro and let er go!

You can also add in an object while you are waiting on the skill cooldown. So say, herd a cat(or snoop a bag for dex) for 10 secs before it goes on to hide/stealth.

How do you copy this code into your razor macros?

You don't copy/paste... it's just telling you how the macro is setup. You'll have to replicate it yourself. Here's the one I use from Hicha on the first page.

If (SysMessage "you begin to move quietly.")
UseSkill Stealth
Pause 10.00sec
Else
If (SysMessage "you have hidden yourself well.")
UseSkill Stealth
Pause 10.00sec
Else
If (SysMessage "you fail in your attempt to move unnoticed.")
UseSkill Hiding
Pause 10.00sec
Else
UseSkill Hiding
Pause 10.00sec
End If

Works great, +1

Inneficient. This macro assumes that you succeed in hiding, which sometimes doesn't happen if you are not a GM hider (I personally GMed stealth before hiding). Thus the macro wastes ten seconds if you fail to hide with the stealth attempt. Also, it wastes ten seconds if you succeed in hiding because you don't need to rehide to stealth again. Thus the if's in the previous macros. While ten seconds is not very long individually, it can add up. The most efficient is one use of hide and two uses of stealth with about 3 if's for the different system messages and the pauses.

Note sure if this help, but added some steps in too see if that makes stealth gain faster. Easy to delete if you don't like it, also not recommended at low levels. Need to try some experiments to check the gain rate, but here the macro. This is the UO Assist code, not psuedocode.

if @injournal 'fail' 'system'
@clearjournal
useskill "Hiding"
pause 11000
endif
useskill "Stealth"
pause 200
if @injournal 'begin'
@clearjournal
walk "North"
walk "North"
walk "North"
walk "South"
walk "South"
walk "South"
endif
pause 11000
if @injournal 'must' 'system'
@clearjournal
useskill "Hiding"
pause 11000
endif

This code only wastes 10 second if you get revealed, I think. Unless you can hide faster after a failed stealth. If you don't start hid it will waste ten seconds at the start, but otherwise this should be able to stealth ad nauseam.
