~~ A step by step guide by Telamon ~~
So you have purchased a shiny new keep and you want to build stairs to the roof without wasting space or aesthetics on the south or east side of the keep. This guild will teach you how to build walk able and non blocking steps that allow for full use of your keeps walkways while giving you functional access to the roof.
~~ Preparation ~~
Item Needed
200 cooked fish steaks
20-30 tables
20-25 short stools (the ones without the additional bar)
Macro's Needed
Drop 1 Fish at your Location
Drop Footstool 1 Tile South
Drop Footstool 1 Tile West
Note: To make a drop macro simply stand in an open space with the related items in your inventory. Record a macro of you picking up and then dropping the item in question in the related location. Stop recording the macro. Right click on the pickup action in the macro and choose convert to pickup by type. Right click on the drop action in the macro and choose change to relative location.
~~ Step 1 ~~
Begin by laying out stacks of fish in the path of the stairs to be built. The pattern will be 1 fish, 3 fish, 5 fish and then repeat. Using the Drop Fish macro for this still will make your life easier.
~~ Step 2 ~~
Place stools on the first 3 stacks of fish and eat the fish under the 3 stools. The stools will remain elevated as long as you eat the fish out from under them while they are not locked down. Lock those 3 stools down once done. Next place tables on the fish stacks as shown in the picture. Increasing the amount of tables as shown.
~~ Step 3 ~~
Next place stools on each step location and lock each of them down. The initial part of the stairs should be easily walk able if done correctly. If you cannot walk the stairs make sure you used the correct amount of fish/tables and the correct type of stools. I have seen many a failed stair construction foiled by the wrong stool type.
~~ Step 4 ~~
Now remove the tables and fish steaks.
~~ Step 5 ~~
Next we want to place a step to allow access to the NE turret of the keep. Begin by placing 2 fish and 3 tables in the location shown below.
~~ Step 6 ~~
Next move outside the turret and place an additional table in that location. If done correctly this table will appear on top of the wall. This can be done using a drop macro from the already built stairs also.
~~ Step 7 ~~
Now climb the stairs you have built and using the table as a target place a stool on top of the table. Once the stool is there remove the table. This will allow the stool to drop on top of the wall. Lock it down.
!! Important, do not walk onto the turret unless you are holding tables/stools and fish to build the next step
~~ Step 8 ~~
Collect 2 tables, 6 stools and some fish to build the next part of the stairs and proceed to the turret. Place fish steaks as shown in the screenshot.
~~ Step 9 ~~
Place tables and then stools as show in this picture. The 3 northern steps can be removed later, since they are only needed to aid in construction. If you wish to leave those steps to continue access to this turret eat the fish before locking them down. (You can release them later to eat the fish also)
~~ Step 10 ~~
Remove the tables/fish from under the 2 southern steps on the turret. Move the the south step, make sure you have a stool in your inventory and then play your drop stool south macro.
~~ Step 11 ~~
This should place a stool on the wall just south of you as shown in the picture. Lock that stool down.
~~ Step 12 ~~
Now we want to place the corner step. Place 5 tables as shown in the picture below. Place a stool on top of the stack of tables and lock it down.
~~ Step 13 ~~
Next we will need to place a stool over the west wall of the central core of the keep. We will use our drop stool west macro for this. Play the macro to place the stool on the wall and then lock it down.
!! Important, do not walk onto the core unless you are holding tables/stools and fish to build the next step
~~ Step 14 ~~
Make sure you have 1 table and 4 stools and proceed onto the roof. Place fish as shown in the following picture.
~~ Step 15 ~~
Place stools and tables as shown in the picture and eat any of the fish under the first 3 steps. Lock the stools down once finished. Your stairs should be complete other than some finishing.
~~ Step 16 ~~
Place some sort of blockable item in this location shown (where the table is). This will keep your from falling off the first part of the stairs.
~~ Step 17 ~~
Place additional tables or blocking items as shown here to keep your from falling off of this corner. These items can be suspended so these tiles are walkable but still keep you from falling off. Any blocking item will work.
~~ Step 18 ~~
Place some tables on the NE turret to keep you from falling off there if you chose to not have stairs on that turret. Using items like this will make stairs much easier and less annoying to use by controlling possible spots you might fall.
~~ Finishing ~~
Now that your stairs are complete you can accessorize the area in between the stairwell with chests/tables or other decoration. By incorporating blocking items like the chests in this example you can make it so the stairs are hidden and you cannot fall off.
