Under "External Links" click "Second Age Hintbook".

This book has some things I have not heard other players mention, some things do not work but many do and I think would be a good addition for new players.

Like certain commands you can say to certain NPC's with specific city connotations.

Could this be a treasure trove of information on the era?

I'm putting this on my kindle right now.

L O L. I bought this guide off amazon approx a year ago just for bathroom reading. It is full of inaccuracies. It's the sort of thing that was prolly contracted out to a publisher who wrote it based on the guide that came in the box with the expansion having never played the game. The guide, for instance, states characters have the option to insta-rez when they die. It's full of roleplaying stories about the different professions in the game... its fun reading, but by no means a good source of info.

Insta-rez with penalties is, in-fact, era-accurate. It was not removed until feb 23, 2000. I believe the reason we don't have it here is to prevent razor macros from selecting it (epic fail. hah), though I'm not positive.

Not at all disagreeing that it has tons of inaccuracies, and it's for sure a fun read.

Katana: speed 48. BINGO.

OTOH, Dagger is listed at 70!

Skill-to-tame numbers look all wacked out. I think this guide is based on early T2A, since Nightmares have 1000+ HP on this guide.

But some other interesting stuff:

Phoenix DEX is 300-400!

Also, speaking of mis-types, long sword is listed as 48 speed as well, right below katana.
