Guide : Blacksmithy Guide

Post by Storm »

I bought skill to around 31.

I had about 45 shown skill.

Here is what I made to get to GM:

45 - 65: Cutlass
65 - 85: Short Spear
85 - 95: Plate Gorgets
95 - GM: Plate Gloves

I smelted everything I made, and used a total of around 55k ingots to go from 31 to GM.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Check this out for a slightly more detailed approach to what to make at each level:

Smithing is pretty slow. Although, now that I'm using razer macros to make stuff and smelt it, it's the mining which is the real time burner...

has blacksmithing been updated or changed since this post was made? i seem to have stopped all gains from plate gloves and arms at 88 smithing have gone through a few thousand igs without any gains. i had to switch to plate legs now. my eyes are burning from all the mining already  i will keep at it. although selling back the plate gloves to the smith gives good returns, i am able to more than replace the igs used by selling the gloves to the smith and buying igs from the smith.

I used plate Gorg's all the way to 96, with pretty decent gains.

If you want to go the money making way, make and sell chain coifs and then plate gorget.

After originally following the stratics guide, I'm pretty sure it's bollocks, at least for gains at the top end. It suggests plate chests at 96 or something, which is a real waste of ingots.

I shifted back to plate gloves for the high 90's which gave me much better gains in terms of total ingots consumed. I guess it's just a question of balancing appropriate difficulty with how many ingots it takes to make a certain item.

Derrick lowered the amount blacksmith vendors pay for metal goods. You'd be better off to smelt them, I only used 28k to gm.
