Guide to easy, FREE bandages for newbies.

Post by Foxhound3857 »

Yeah, we all know, bandages are an expensive resource for beginners with no funding, and they're a pain in the ass to snip one by one, given that most newbies don't know how to set up macros with razor. But fear not, I've found a great way to get free bandages (or cloth, for tailors) with little work involved, only some walking and clicking.

Items you will need:
-Dagger
-Scissors

And that's it. You're ready to go.

-Step 1: Head to Moonglow (use the moongate near any city or ask for a gate from a friendly mage).

There are three farms on the Moonglow island, each south of the city. From the south gates of Moonglow city, follow the road Southwest and head south along the coast of the island to find the first one. If someone hasn't been by here recently, you will see cotton growing in the fenced area. Double click this to spawn a bale of cotton on the floor, and pick it up. You should average 3-5 every time you come here.

Next, continue to follow the road south, and take it east when it turns, and you'll soon find another farm. This one will probably have more cotton, I've found as many as 8 here. After that, continue east and take the road north when it turns again and you'll come across one more farm. There's an opening to get inside along the north fence, and right next to it is some flax. Same thing, double click this and collect what drops.

(this farm also has carrots and turnips if you need food)

In between the short journey to each farm, if you happen to see any sheep, use your dagger on them to get their wool. it's not necessary, but it will get you more cloth overall.

At this point you're ready for step 2, so you may return to town.

-Step 2: Turning it into Cloth.

Head north of the Moonglow bank and behind the Mage store to find the Tailoring shop. In the back of the shop is a loom and a wheel, the wheel is your first stop.

Double click the cotton and flax in your inventory and target the wheel with them. After a few seconds you will get spools of thread, roughly 6 for each cotton and flax. After that, use any wool you collected from sheeps on the wheel, and you'll get balls of yarn.

Now, go to the loom, and double click your spools or your yarn, and target the loom. You will need to use 5 spools or yarn, and after the fifth one is applied, you will get a bolt of cloth in your inventory, worth 50 cloth (one bandage per cloth). Continue doing this until you've expended your spools and yarn.

You now should have several bolts of cloth and you didn't have to sink a bunch of unnecessary gold to buy them. If you're a tailor, simply cut them with scissors and you're ready to go. For people who need lots of bandages, now you're ready for step 3.

-Step 3: Making bandages.

Okay, so cutting bandages one at a time is no fun, and Razor isn't a very intuitive tool for the first timer, but fear not, I will show you a simple macro that will quickly cut bandages for you, and all you have to do is find something else to do for a few moments.

Go into Razor and click on the Macro tab. Click New to set up a new macro, and call it Bandages. When you've done that, you're ready to set the macro up. Click Record, double click the scissors in your inventory, and then click on the cloth to cut one bandage. Go back to the Razor macro and stop recording.

Now, the macro itself won't continue to cut the same pool of cloth yet because it thinks the new smaller pile is a separate item not recognized by the macro. So what you need to do is alter the macro so that it chooses its target by item type and not by what you last clicked.

If you recorded the macro correctly, it should look like this right now.

Double Click
Wait for Target
Absolute Target

Highlight the Absolute Target line and right click it for a popup menu. One of the options should be "Convert to Target by Type." This is what you want to select. This will change the Absolute Target line in your macro to target any pile of cloth in your inventory. It should now look like this.

Double Click
Wait for target
Target by Type cut cloth

Your macro is almost finished, you only need to add a pause to it now. Highlight the "Target by Type cut cloth" and click the last option, Special Constructs. Another popup will come up with a bunch of alteration factors to insert into the macro. You want to click the first one, Insert Pause/Wait.

Make sure the "Pause for" button is on, and then type in 1000 milliseconds into the box next to it. 1000 milliseconds = 1 second. This will add a 1 second pause after every bandage is cut so the action queue doesn't get backlogged and screw up.

The macro should now look like this.

Double Click
Wait for Target
Target by Type cut cloth
Pause 1.00sec

Your macro is finished. Now check the loop box underneath the Play/Record buttons, and hit play, and your macro will now cut a fresh bandage from any cloth in your inventory every second, until there is no cloth remaining.

Once you've set up the macro, you will never need to repeat step 3, just cut the bolts once and then use the macro you created to start cutting the cloth for you.

Give the cotton/flax outside of Moonglow about an hour to respawn, and then go and farm them again. In a few hours you'll have thousands of bandages, and the macro will be cutting them all for you.

Easy, and it will save you a TON of gold. I hope this helps somebody.

P.S: This also works well in Delucia if you can get a ride there. While there is no cotton or flax to pick, there are a LOT of sheep to shave, which amounts to the same thing. And you can kill them to make them respawn with full coats, and cut them for lamb meat to cook as well.
