This guide aims to teach one thing and one thing only, how to avoid unnecessary double posting (even triple or quadruple posting in some extreme cases).
Question: What is double posting?
Answer: It is when having made a post in a topic, and then making another post in the same topic, immediately following ones previous post without posts from other users made in between posts.
Not all double posting is "evil" though. One can use the subtle art of delicate double posting to bump a thread or to write something relevant to the topic when some time has elapsed since the previous post (see "significant delay*" below).
When the above is not the case, double posting should be avoided at all costs. If there has not been a significant delay* in time from the previous post one should use the [EDIT] button located beneath the previous post (must be logged in to see this button) and edit (add to or modify) the post. Below is an image of what the button looks like (highlighted in red) and where it can be located.
- * significant delay - up to the user to decide, but I'd recommend around 20-30 minutes as a minimum time frame.
