Picked up water elemental on my ship and it broke everyone of my boxes with all my crap in them and basically carpet bombed me.
Its kind of funny but not. I understand that monsters can break boxes but this is ridiculous.

Aye, sadly this it not a bug. WE's have the ability to transition from water to land, although they need to be in just the right position to do this on a boat.
