Having trouble with raising resist magic, help please
Re: Having trouble with raising resist magic, help please
3157 flamestrike reagents, cast by a GM magery, 0 Eval:
94.4 to 96.7 skill
Average of .1 gain per 137 casts.
Will update with a GM Evaluator, who will go from 96.7 to GM (hopefully)

Re: Having trouble with raising resist magic, help please
As I posted elsewhere:
GM mage(s) with 0 eval took resist from 95.1 to 100 in 6529 FS casts.
Prepatch, I had a GM mage take it from 94.3 to 100 in ~5900 casts.
A difference, but not so huge I'd rule out chance -- or worry much about it.
Re: Having trouble with raising resist magic, help please
What worries me a little is that you got .1 gain in every 133 casts from 95.1 to 100. So far, I'm averaging .1 every 137, which is close, except that's for the easier third of that skill range. Presumably my rate will worsen as I approach GM (unless I was just unlucky). Anyways, doubling your post-patch sample size can't hurt, so I'm going to keep logging and posting, if that's OK with you.
Re: Having trouble with raising resist magic, help please
My gains seemed to be fairly consistent throughout that range, but I wasn't keeping that close an eye on it. I'd appreciate further testing be done as well, so please post your findings. As if you need my permission.
Re: Having trouble with raising resist magic, help please
OK, so with 100 Eval, I went from 96.6 to 100 with 5200 casts, so about 153 casts per gain.

Interestingly, we're not too far off from Blade's resist chart:
http://web.archive.org/web/200003061213 ... tchart.htm
He averaged 162.5 casts per resist gain, to go from around 93 to 95.5. I probably averaged 125.

That seems pretty consistent with what I got with no eval. Good to know.Mikel123 wrote:OK, so with 100 Eval, I went from 96.6 to 100 with 5200 casts, so about 153 casts per gain.
Err, he had a gain from 92.9 to 95.3 on average every 63 casts -- and that includes more fizzles from being a non-GM mage.Mikel123 wrote:Interestingly, we're not too far off from Blade's resist chart:

For completeness: 92 to 95.1 resist (91.1 to 100 magery) took me 3392 casts with no eval -- 109 casts per resist gain on average (with many extra fizzles).
Re: Having trouble with raising resist magic, help please
i gmed magery a few days ago doing the same shit
firewall to 55, etc
i ended up with 89,3 resist with no eval at all.

I think we both messed this up now that I look again.Rammar wrote:Err, he had a gain from 92.9 to 95.3 on average every 63 casts -- and that includes more fizzles from being a non-GM mage.
I see 2600 casts and gains of 3. (36 gains), so 72 casts per gain. And you're right, he must have fizzled more due to not being a GM mage.
Could it be that our skill gain is slower than OSI for one of the hardest skills? Wow. Truly goes to show how much Razor helps us gain skill far faster than we otherwise would have.
Re: Having trouble with raising resist magic, help please
Correct. In the post I quoted you had 95.5 instead if 96.5, which I took to mean 95.3 for some reason.Mikel123 wrote:I think we both messed this up now that I look again.

It certainly looks slower in that range here when compared to that chart.Mikel123 wrote:Could it be that our skill gain is slower than OSI for one of the hardest skills? Wow. Truly goes to show how much Razor helps us gain skill far faster than we otherwise would have.

Re: Having trouble with raising resist magic, help please
it seems like i'm hitting a wall at 61.0 resist. casting ebolt since my magery hit 63 (even though my resist wasn't 63) this is the correct method? change spell depending on magery instead of waiting to change from lightning to ebolt until resist catches up to 63?
