Most annoying "era accurate" thing on T2A?
First off let me say that this is not supposed to be a "what you hate about T2A thread" I'm loving having the chance to relive one of my favorite games during one of my favorite time periods, and I thank Derrick for making that happen. So please play nice.
With that said, what is the #1 thing that you SWEAR wasn't in T2A that has either been proven here or decided upon by staff that it wasn't era accurate?
Personally I would have to say poison/mount fatigue....deadly poison is about as deadly as stepping on a nail after a tetanus vaccination and even though mount fatigue is fixed from a single key stroke (ty razor) I just don't remember it.

I would say the delay between Halberd cycling (but that's not era accurate!), and so, I will have to go with being revealed when snooping from a stealth. It was only "era accurate" for like 2 months which our timeframe just happens to cover...
That's not era accurate! Unless you mean blessed clothing being breakable.Brules wrote:Blessed clothing is indestructable. Stinks of much trammel.

I'd say not having lag and connection issues.
This isn't a cop out, but they just impact so many other aspects of the game - dying, macroing, running, deadly poison, trying to outrun monsters when you're on foot, etc.
I'd also say horses too. I really remember them being a much bigger pain in the ass, but I can't pinpoint what we're doing here that's "wrong", so I don't know how to fix it.
Both of these impact so many other things... deadly poison, we likely have nailed mechanically. But, when you're on foot, trying to outrun a silver serpent to get some distance to cast Cure without being interrupted, and you have low Wrestling, and you're laggy, you will die 99% of the time. I think lag and connection explain why a lot of things here, like deadly poison and mini heal, don't "feel" right.

The set-up of the Lich Lord room balcony. In order to make money on catskills, I would ev the Lich Lords from the balcony. Now, their have been blocks added to prevent it from happening, at least to my knowledge.

We usually played from a cyber cafe that had a T1...on foot, I could outrun someone on a mount if they had the standard 56k connection. Twas fantastic. Now even my dog has a 6Mb DSL, and the cyber cafe turned it's LAN game center into a painting station for D&D/Warhammer miniatures.Panthor the Hated wrote:lagged sucked 13 years ago and even the significantly reduced lag we have now sucks.

Fuck progress.
Save yourself the shame and embarrassment and just assume that if you can't understand me...you're the one who's retarded.

So far this is the only one I'm going to have to say "no"...people on Stratics were claiming the game was broke and dieing once Asheron's Call came out.Panthor the Hated wrote:Constant complaining about how the game is broken and doomed to die off in a weeks time.
Not claming priority, just giving my "411":
@matron: I agree I don't remember exp pots being so lame in town
@black: I find the AI here to be much more intelligent then back in "the day"
@Malakit: I can only imagine, I felt I had a leg up on the competition being on 56k vs 32k...a couple years later I played an mmo/fps on a cable modem and totally sucked but since the norm was 56k it didn't matter I still usually came in the top three on the scoreboards.
All in all though, T2A has a great mission it is trying to abide by
