chumbucket's Tales of Adventure: Final Day [or not!]
This morning started off with some usual moves. I made about fifty tinker traps. Santa chum did a tour of duty. While I was making my rounds, I came across a fine young man whose name I have forgotten. He was clearly new. He also had a big bag full of magic weapons, most unidentified. I helped myself to a bardiche and challenged him to a duel.
chumbucket: En guarde, sir!
The problem was I am using my hiding mage-thief, who can't fight his way out of a paper bag. He certainly can't wield a bardiche. The newbie flees for his life in town, as I follow yelling "En guarde, sir!" all the way.
After I had dropped off my gifts to the children of T2A, I set out for West Britain Bank in search of macroers. I was not disappointed. I pulled out my freshly made keg of greater explosion pots and set to work. I dropped two folks up front, using my patented set-the-bomb-off-inside-the-bank move, which kills through walls. Next, I went for a rather fancy move: I would kill two people up against different walls. For reasons I don't quite understand, it didn't work. Noganoo had one of his characters there, but it dropped to 0% health. The other character, whose name I forget, didn't even go down that far. That's ok. I can just toss a single pot and drop noganoo. No such luck. A fellow by the name of Insolence heals up noganoo's character. Jerk.
At various times, I gave away a few particular items: two first place PvP trophies I had won and a first-ever-bagball trophy I had in Eduardo's name. Everything was more or less in place.
I came back around 7:30 EST and began to make the very last arrangements. Maahes made an announcement for me at about 8:30:
[Maahes]: There will be a special chumbucket event at his vesper strip house.
[Maahes]: The event will begin at a random time between 9 and 9:15 EST.
[Maahes]: 400k of loot stolen from you will be given away.
And it was.
I first checked in at about ten until 9. There was already a crowd gathered, and there was some decent fights breaking out. Someone revealed my macer, who was hidden inside the event house. I logged out quickly.
I ran in with a ghost at 9, so I could began filming without anyone being aware of my presence. Fights were everywhere. The crowd was still at my doorstep. Suddenly, a red healer mysteriously spawns nearby. This is it. I unlock my front door, resurrect the ghost and begin shouting.
chumbucket: The door is unlocked! Come and get it!
Most people believed I would simply drop the house. But I decided on forcing people to come in, that way the 150 trapped boxes inside would have to be opened on the spot and there would be a rush to get in through the door. I keep my macer inside to make sure the horses of the fallen don't slow things down too much. [They did regardless!] There must have been twenty-five or thirty people trying to get in. Some kid soul decided it would be nice to cast poison field on the steps. God bless you. Derrick stood by silently watching from the inside.
If the trapped boxes weren't enough, I had my main thief in town with another surprise. I charge the event with a box filled with greater explosion pots. I work my way unnoticed up to the stairs, drop the pots and BOOM about twenty people die all at once. And so does the server.
I have never seen so many people typing in IRC at once. My favorite comment came from Hemperor.
Hemperor: chumbucket > UOSA
As I said at the time, I had already pk'd a GM. The only thing left for me to do was to pk the server!
[Actually, it might have just been a coincidence that server went down when it did.]
The second round went pretty much the same as the first. A giant clusterfuck of death and destruction. And then the server crashed again. I got it into my head that the best thing I could do at this point was simply drop the house when the server came back up. That was probably not true. I should have stuck with my current plan, since when I did drop it, the boxes disappeared to private locations to be opened at leisure. A dark steed made an appearance, which was unexpected. I had lobbied Maahes for an army of mongbats one of which carried a mongbat map, but I don't think he thought it was a good idea.
After this, I came across Hemperor. He was grey. I attacked. He said something to the effect of "just like old times." And he was right: He recalled away.
Despite the server crashing twice, I think the event was a success. My only regret is that by dropping the house, I didn't quite manage to make three hundred kills. I end with 294 kills, a good 80 or so above second place. I had wanted to make 1000 kills before I quit, but that didn't happen.
I do, however, have about 3000 screenshots total, and a few really nice ones from today. I also had some fine RPVs. I'll post a selection at the end, but I was so busy with trying to keep the event going that I fell down on my screenshot duties. Please post any good ones you have here. The RPVs can be found here.
The various ticket prizes were claimed by these fine folks:
Iego - A big ol' bag of staves (about 90 or so exceptional staves)
PrincessLaya - A big ol' bag of reagents (about 8k reagents)
noganoo - Not one, but TWO houses! Nice!
Biscophan - 100,000 gold!
I highly recommend watching the RPVs. THE RPVs CAN BE FOUND HERE! Pay particular attention to the door of the house at the very last second on the first one. Also, kudos to whoever kept casting poison field on the porch!
Special thanks are due to the following. I'm sure I've left a few out!
Derrick: For PWNing and help with the event.
Maahes: For bringing me to this shard, helping with the event and other stuff too!
Wintersleep: For being PWNed.
Coffee: For helping me when I was a bard and beyond.
Silverfoot: The same as Coffee!
MapOmatic: I think he quit, but he rocked too. Alas, he wouldn't let a thief join KA!
Hemperor: For dying, recalling and occasionally being a good sport.
Azteka: For the loot and good times.
Lamer: For bombs and hilarity.
All the members of my old guild!
And a ton of other people, too many to mention.
Adieu!

Well..I am slightly star struck and in awe and almost want to cry from compassion and desire to be like you. This was simply hilarious, Genious, Amazing too many words to describe it. In sosaria there are many Heroes and villians blessed by the gods but out of all of them this shard despises and loves you the most. haha sorry for the flattery but this shard i believe accepts defeat. PLease tell me.. Do you ever play anymore mr.Chumbucket?
