Thoughts of a new player who tried to play on UOSA
Thoughts of a new player who tried to play on UOSA
I just started three days ago and been having fun re-living a memories and building up some skills. I like that it was a challenge here as opposed to other private servers i seen where you get WAY too much at start and skills are uber easy to raise.
Had fun roaming around and then made it to my first Dungeons, Covetous and Shame both of which lasted approximately 15mins before some jerk came running by the slay the newbs for their suit of mixed bone/chain armor and a bag of reg that has like 20 regs in it. That wasn't even so bad until I did some research into attempting to survive such attacks. Then i came to a realization. PvP is deader then dead here, if I even wanted to hold my own I would have to run a cookie cutter template of GM Mage and macro all my spells through Razor or easyUO to even stand a chance. (Never mind even trying if 3-5 people come at ya all running the macro's)
I must say however that the concept of keeping open PKing alive in this kind of environment is well quite retarded, is there any satisfaction even gained? 'Look man, I killed another newb with this script i downloaded, pretty leet huh?'
Now I know some people are thinking STFU up newb, conform or rage quit and GTFO. Well the sad fact is your kinda right, There is NO point in playing UOSA unless you want to conform to that standard, hence I am quitting but honestly I slept on it and did some thinking and honestly I am not willing to put in the effort just to fight in script wars vs. another scripter.
IMHO PVP should be disabled and consensual(duals, tournys, events) only in such an environment where scripting is so utterly and blatantly used and abused. Now I know to that opinion people are saying to themselves 'STFU pussy'. Well the truth is it is you that are not willing to fight someone who wants to actually fight back who is the pussy. But this is just my opinion and you are certainly welcome to your own.
I do however appreciate the 3 days of fun I had and I thank the admins for that that, I wish you all the best. However I suggest if you ever wish to gain newcomers in the future you do look into making their making their experience more then 'OMG i was just raped by 4 people running scripts, while minding my own business and trying to have fun' cause that in my mind sums this shard up nicly.

EasyUO is illegal here..
As are pretty much all 3rd party programs, as is krrios..
UOAM, Razor, and if I'm not mistaken UOLoop are allowed..
To blame dying to people on "scripts" is rediculous..
Trammel awaits you.

to deny this is exactly what happens is ridiculous, not to mention ignorant and retarded.platy wrote: To blame dying to people on "scripts" is rediculous..
Also you may say easyUO is illegal here, but that dont stop anyone. Do a quick google on it and you can see yourself.

These kind of attitudes are exactly why you will NEVER see any new players join. Very unfriendly around here and I hope you guys have fun script waring each other. Honestly I have other things to spend my time on, then playing with a bunch of BADS, which is what you all are having a script play the game for you. Try some real pvp sometime and tell me how it goes when you have to actually try.Mirage wrote:Allardyn wrote: Now I know some people are thinking STFU up newb, conform or rage quit and GTFO.

Google what..?
I've used EUO scripts on other shards before.. And they don't make you a UO god at all..
Beleive it or not, EUO is one of the easiest detectable 3rd party programs out there, so you think the staff is ignoring the use of an easily verified banable program?
I have to ask now, why exactly do you think people are using scripts..? Because they are actually "good" at pvp on a server thats been open for over 3 years?

i must agree on the unfriendly part, seems most of the vets would rather Bash anyone they don't agree with or harrass them into quitingAllardyn wrote:These kind of attitudes are exactly why you will NEVER see any new players join. No my point is they are bads, hence the needs to script to pk newbs. They are obviously not willing to fight someone who can fight back. Its the equivalent of a grown man with a machine gun slaughtering a room full of children and then calling em pussies cause they all didnt have machine guns of thier own.platy wrote:Google what..?

Re: Thoughts of a new player who tried to play on UOSA
I normally think we probably shouldn't bash newbies in posts, but this guy is asking for it. His post in not only rude but it is begging people to tell him off.
Also, I enjoy the part about how no one will ever play here...besides, I guess, the hundreds of people who have been playing here over the past three years.
Honestly, we don't need players like this. His basic thought is that we all need to play the way he wants us to play, that most people play some different way, and he refuses to just do whatever he wants because of that.
The biggest problem with UOSA is its players. It isn't a big problem. But, as a group, we are extremely, extremely uncreative and boring. There are a few honorable exceptions, but by and large what we need are more players acting outside the box. We certainly don't need morons like this crying that people do things he doesn't want them to do (even if he has a point out about boring you people are) and then demanding that there be ever fewer options in gameplay.

There's not a real reason to berate this guy people...
Just don't respond...
If you don't like the conditions on UOSA don't play here.

The Power of Trammel Compels You!
We all started somewhere, being raped by 2-3 reds as a newb sucks. However, it keeps the economy stable to be honest. Played EA's version lately? Checked the prices of housing? Rediculas. It's also an added challenge. And this shard incredibly era accurate. It's based in a time where griefing and PKing were at its highest. My advise to new players is try tailoring or mining to start... Don't ever just plow into a dungeon. But that's just me... But I'll admit (and I hate to say it, believe me) I aggre with chumbucket 100%.

I must admit, I have found some people's use of Razor during combat to violate the classic spirit and feel of the old T2A button mash combat stylings.
It seems though that there are just some things you have to live with and adapt to for the love of an outdated game and era. Where else are you going to find such a well developed game with the freedom to kill whoever you feel like?
I must also agree that this thread turned out pretty much like I predicted before even reading more than the title. Many of us are extremely hostile and over emotional in forums. It didn't take long for this thread to explode into unnecessarily rude comments and name calling.
