GM Detect Hidden in only FIVE minutes! *from 50.1

Post by Wonko the Sane »

Inspired by cA's 1st annual cA Detect Hidden training Party!
(see viewtopic.php?f=45&t=7775)

Announcing the PERMANENT Detect Hidden training party at my place, sixth house (heading east) on the road from the Skara Brae docks. Should take you about ten minutes to GM if you start with 50.1 Detect Hidden, but I haven't timed it exactly.

The only differences between mine and the event that cA ran is that mine runs all the time instead of once a year and costs 0 gold to use instead of 2000 gold. That's a 2000 gold savings and you don't have to take the day off work to take advantage of it.

*update* forgive me, but it takes 11 minutes to gm from 50.1
The bottom crate is actually about 80 crates which I put in another box and then smashed the box so that they all take up a single tile and z index. The crate on top is exactly 125 crates which I placed there in the same way. I plan to add another stack of 125 chests to see if maybe I can cut the time down even less.

You need to place stone ovens around the boxes to keep them safe. Non-Locked Down boxes will just get destroyed by a bored person with an EV.

C^V has a similar setup in the Vesper Keep Library. If you target the rune in the NE corner of the Keep it will gain Detect for you. We don't have nearly as many boxes, but perhaps someday we'll add more.

Yeah, just make sure you test it out to see if you can "break" it before you add all the boxes. :)

For sure. Thank god for macros. And to whoever did it, I hope your testicles turn green and rot off.

Back in business! If anyone can destroy those boxes now... well... congratulations mofo!

Since I can add them in stacks of 125, I'll aim to have 500 boxes in the near future. Still, with that 125 boxes your gains should be pretty fast and easy. Enjoy.

Quite a few pearls of wisdom in this thread if you're keen.

Hrm.

Next project. I wish I had consulted the community in the first place.

Wall of ovens in place and line of sight not possible... I think!!! Thanks to everyone, yes, even the griefer(s) for teaching me things I wish/should have already known.

Going to test when I have time, but do armoires break line of sight, does anyone happen to know already?

Back up and running, about 250 boxes there now, and I plan to add another 250 every week or so (because I have other things to do in life) until it's full.

If I leave the keys in the boxes, I can have 62 per tile times the z-index, so it's possible to have over 500 per tile. If I fill up most of the space like that, who knows, it might be possible to go from 50.1 to GM in one try. :)

i think technically there is no limit, as when you break a box all the current boxes will fall onto the same tile and z axis. then you can put 125 boxes inside any of those boxes and break again. so you could have infinite boxes on a single tile/z axis level

Whoa... so you could theoretically reach GM Detect Hidden before you even create the character!
Er... no, but I look forward to seeing how low the time can go.
About 500 boxes in there now, give or take.
