House deed question

So I'm fairly familiar with UO but lost on why everyone uses house deeds as forms of trade and payment... Could someone cue me in as to why they are used as a currency?

So I'm fairly familiar with UO but lost on why everyone uses house deeds as forms of trade and payment... Could someone cue me in as to why they are used as a currency?

Bank Checks are not in this Era of UO. House Deeds are the same price and can be sold back to the Architects or Carpenter's or whatever the NPC is called in the Carpentry shop for the exact sale price. Therefore, they are used for larger purchases as they are safer and are newbie in the top layer of your backpack. As they are newbie, you cannot set them on the ground or they will decay, though.
