Original Song Contest - ENDED.

Post by Hemperor »

I am starting a contest of who can create the best song related to UO and the shard in general. It can be a rap, jingle, sing it to a guitar, whatever you want. Length is up for you to decide. There will be multiple judges to be announced that will score the songs on creativity, style, originiality and delivery.

There will be a 100k grand prize for the winner, I will set a final date very soon once I see how many people are interested. Should hopefully be a lot of fun, I know there is a lot of talent in this shard.

Reply if interested or have any questions

CONTEST HAS ENDED

Thank you to all who participated. Only 3 entries in the end, although sort of expected with an event like this because it requires the extra effort. All entries are quality and original.

Spitfire's Entry: Thieforrhage (Another Keep)

Jono's Entry: Derricks your god

Wise's Entry: SecondAge Paradise

I and the other judges really enjoyed each song, thought they were all creative and fit their own styles. Good work to everyone who participated, thanks for making it fun!

However, there can only be one winner. Spitfire's "Another Keep" really stuck out to us, great timing and I'm sure you'll have a laugh listening to it as well. Congratulations Spitfire.

Be sure to check out all the songs, this shard has some talent!

Sorry, I should have been more specific.

I am talking about a recorded file, slap your singing on a premade beat or whatever you want really. As long as it's in some sort of a file, or even uploaded to Youtube. MIKE has already proven his singing skills at the karaoke contest, hopefully we can see -F- participate.

If you give enough time, I will write a song on guitar.

Question - my friend and I used to have a rap group called the Bell Labs Squad. It consisted of us making beats and writing lyrics, then using an online text-to-speech program to "rap" the lyrics. Is this acceptable?

Otherwise I'm not going to bother making a song. I would shoot myself if I ever became nerdy enough to actually sing a song about Ultima Online.

suggested song titles for other ppl:
Rich as Platypus (about how rich I am, and how other players aspire to be as rich as me someday)
Derrick is God (song worshipping Derrick)
Griefers (about griefers, duh)
The Ballad of Hemperor (about Hemperor's antics)
Rares, Rares, Rares (song listing every rare in the game)
+25 Indestructible Hally of Vanq (about murdering with the best weapon in the game)
Castle Deed (about saving gold for months for a castle deed and getting it stolen, quitting the game, etc)

IMO, using a program to create the speech rather than recording yourself is more nerdy :p

Anyways, that is allowed, just remember the guidelines on how things will be scored... a song with monotone lyrics may not bode so well.
