Re: May we please have stealing in the non-free use tourneys?
A simple solution that anyone would have a hard time agreeing with is the one that is happening already. Just have different tournament types. If you dont like a particular rule set, dont participate in that tournament. Allow an anything goes tournament with no skill restrictions. If a tamer enters the tournament he will have a hard time as there are no pets in the arena for him to tame. Just as a lumberjack who enters the tournament will have no trees to chop.
An anything goes tournament would change the way people play that particular tournament and be interesting to watch. Full stealing, full looting any items/skills, paralyze your opponent and summon a deamon, go for it. Just make it once a week toss it into the schedule, you dont like the rule set dont play.

Didn't read it past this point. That about sums it up.Faust wrote:Why not allow tamers to bring in a 100 dragons too?

I dont think having npc hirelings and untamed pets wandering around in the arena is somthing anyone is actually talking about. Having a tournament style that is free of restrictions does merit consideration and discussion.

Why not make a guild sponsored player ran thief only tournament, you can't give each other counts anyway. Just make everyone prove they are in the thieve's guild. I am sure you can get the go ahead to make a trophy system added to it.

as much as i love thieves, this would make winning too easy for all the thieves that use steal by type macros. steal garlic = death with no effort or skill involved.

If this was true, then most of us would be using thieves to pvp.marmalade wrote:as much as i love thieves, this would make winning too easy for all the thieves that use steal by type macros. steal garlic = death with no effort or skill involved.
Store your items better.
Blackfoot is completely on point. I don't see how you can translate what I proposed into tamer-fest 2010. A no-rules, full loot, ect. system would be great.Blackfoot wrote:An anything goes tournament would change the way people play that particular tournament and be interesting to watch. I cannot recall scripted tourneys of any sort "back in the day". However..Faust wrote:There were different style of tournies back in the day. However, the majority of them mainly used the traditional tank mage ruleset.
This is a valid point that should be addressed.Faust wrote:The inaccurate addition of stealing by target type through Razor makes this even more pointless in my opinion too.
I am all for negotiating features with the server (razor), but I know that this may (or may not) place certain limitation on who can/will connect to the shard. A really simply solution is to place a few of each reg/pot/whatever somewhere inaccessable, but still visible on the screen with the duelers. You can even make them invisible to the client, just make sure razor can see them. Problem solved.
(Also, you by-type thieves are lame, I'm not even going to mention the other 2 sins of stealing, because they make you an even more pathetic player. I can honestly say that cA does not advocate any of that BS.)
Re: May we please have stealing in the non-free use tourneys?
Tournaments are supposed to be a duel setting, stealing was never and has never been included in that... as soon as you say "Well you only don't want it because it doesn't fit your cookie cutter mage template
" you do completely warrant Faust's request of dragons.

^ this is the way discussions should be handled...non inflammatory and considerate of opposing points of view.
No progress or brainstorming is possible when the topics turn personal against each other.
I for one would like to see more of this.
Let me put forth another suggestion.
Since an acting member of cA proposed this why not make a series of thief events that would be crucial in the deciding factor for the admittance of new players into your guild in the style of a player ran event in which you could seek approval by staff members to include some kind of trophy reward for the winner(s) while this matter is being discussed?
The trophies themselves may or may not have a point value decidingly.

Re: May we please have stealing in the non-free use tourneys?
Why should this shard continue to put in era accurate changes while leaving out era accurate exploitable bugs? I understood your point just fine. It was just stupid to compare 100 dragons to the steal skill in tourneys. The "majority" doesn't always matter with changes that are put into the shard so why should it matter in non-era accurate things like these automated events?Faust wrote:Sorry, if you can't seem to grasp the point that was being made in my post. Why should one restriction be relaxed and the next shouldn't? Again, the rules put in place has been etched in the minds of competitive duelers for well over a decade now. There is a reason the "majority" enjoys dueling this way.

So the only thing stopping the discussion about having an anything goes full loot arena 1v1 death match tournament is tamers not being able to bring in dragons? Awesome.

Re: May we please have stealing in the non-free use tourneys?
Not the point, I am not saying "make this happen now", for all you know we already have such private tourneys within our guild, I am only suggesting a reasonable change (or new event). Under your reasoning (and I hate to say this because it sounds like I am pointing the finger at tank mages, which I play sometimes), the events could be removed and people could organize it all themselves. Like Blackfoot said, if you dont like it, dont enter it. With that in mind, I see no reason why faust/hemperor/others are so opposed to the idea. Every single event on this server is a tank-mage party. I am perfectly okay with that, It is a popular template, I get that.archaicsubrosa77 wrote: Since an acting member of cA proposed this why not make a series of thief events that would be crucial in the deciding factor of admittance to your guild in the style of a player ran event in which you could seek approval by staff members to include some kind of trophy reward for the winner(s) while this matter is being discussed?
You have your 1 pots, 2 pots, red pots, blue pots tourneys, why argue against an alternative for other people.

Are there not plenty of macros used in PvP on UOSA via razor that were not era accurate?

Actually I am not opposed at all, it's good practice. Especially if it was free use. I mean the victor doesnt loot in tournies. I didn't know you had events already like that, I thought it would help get more backing if you made a big promotional thing out of it thats all.

Re: May we please have stealing in the non-free use tourneys?
I fully understand why some bugs are left out, there has to be era-accuracy within reason, or we would all be gold-duping, blessed-vanq wielding, house looters. I agree with the "majority" statement though. I dont see how one can rationalize comparing "era-accurate dueling tourneys over a decade in tradition", to what is being proposed here.Shea wrote: Why should this shard continue to put in era accurate changes while leaving out era accurate exploitable bugs?
