Constant Lag-like States, Lockups, and Disconnects

Post by chumbucket »

Starting a few days ago, my client has been locking up, slowing down, or disconnecting (usually all three). My character becomes unable to move, everyone else including players and NPCs keep moving. I cannot speak or move. Usually, this ends in a disconnect. It is happening extremely often now.

I'm using Vista, with the client you used to download from the webpage.

Data:

1. NPCs and players keep moving. Guildmates in [g keep talking.

2. I can't talk in [g. Everything I say comes all at once when (and if) the lockup passes.

3. This often ends with a disconnect.

4. Turning off my firewall does not seem to help.

5. I just had a disconnect on both IRC and the game at the same time. That was new.

6. My connection has gone out a few times in the past few days for no reason. It comes back on after ten minutes or so usually.

So, I'm not computer savvy, but I'm guessing this is a problem with my IP?

It's defiantely a local problem or ISP problem. It's possible this is a bad network cable, since the data probalem only seems to be in one direction. If wireless connected, try a wire, see if it fixes it.

Also if you haven't, try reboting your router/cable modem, or both

Hope this helps, keep us posted.

I'm so stupid about computers that it did not occur to me to take that simple step. It seems to have worked. Thanks!
