Boat collision detection

Post by Generic Player »

Only tested with a small boat, but it probably applies to other boats also. You get blocked by things that are behind you and shouldn't interfere with your forward movement. At the back end of the boat where it gets narrower, anything standing there will stop you from moving forwards, it should only stop you from moving backwards and to that side. Here's an example of a water ele doing it.

similarly annoying..... blood from sea serps or water elems will block your movement also until it decays.
how does liquid blood in liquid water block your movement!?!?

i dont ever recall this happening before either, had not sailed in a while until recently and was like WTFFFFFFffffffffff

water eles always stop your boat. Looking at that pic there you should be able to say "forward left" and get away from him. They are tricky. Wait til you get one on yeach side...lol then you have to kill one.

The thing that bugs me in terms of sailing are those "grids" near some shorelines. Soooo annoying.

They shouldn't block foward movement from that position. Dolphins and sea serpents do it too. Also sea serpents will actually completely block all movement some times, I think they are getting in the wall of the boat. I just had a sea serpent in the same position as the water ele in that screenshot, and I couldn't move or turn in any direction, I was completely blocked till I killed it, and then the corpse was attached to the side of the boat and came with me when I sailed away.

Many times, you can get the corpse off by turning the boat and moving just right. It's kinda like you "shake" the corpse off, so that you can sail off and leave it behind.

It takes a couple tries to get it just right, and even then, it's not 100%. But at least u can get rid of them some of the time.

I don't mind the corpse really since it doesn't hurt anything, just mentioned it in case it helps narrow down what makes some stuff completely block all movement while it is alive.

Actually, stepping out onto the open gang plank helps a lot.

Step onto the gang plank on the same side as the monster.
Issue a command to move in the opposite direction (right or left).
Wait until the monster is 2-3 spaces away and issue "forward".
Rinse and repeat.

This works for serps too.
