Holiday Item cleanup

Post by Mikel123 »

http://wiki.uosecondage.com/1999_Patch_Notes
Housing and furnishing changes
[*]Holiday trees and ornaments are deleted. Holiday tree deeds are unaffected, but are disabled until the holiday season next year.
It appears placed trees should be deleted every February... also seems as though once placed, you should not be able to re-deed a tree.

I believe that was only for trees that people didn't redeed themselves yet and left up too long, those would be just eaten during a patch. They wanted to give everyone a good warning and time to get them down and redeeded.

But I always had the option of redeeding my xmas trees. If I didn't, I wouldn't have placed them and kept the deeds safe. I remember even placing and moving my 1st xmas tree around the house until I liked the spot.

I always thought xmas trees were the same as any other addon (during t2a at least) except for them being removed seasonally. Perhaps someone can show me the patch note or whatever that says they could be re-deeded..

perhaps you can not be a helpless gimp and look it up yourself

"Double-clicking the foliage of the tree will collapse it back into a deed if you are the person who placed the tree. Otherwise, it does nothing."
"You can no longer deed a locked-down holiday tree."

Does this mean the Yew Bank Mall christmas trees will be deleted?

Yeah, with the degree to which people stay active and focused on this game, I'm sure when/if Derrick decides to give some warning in February and then delete placed trees, we'll have plenty of time to re-deed. Look, I have xmas trees too, but I found it and posted it. Nothing personal.

Guess its hard to remember the years but wasnt it

You can place a tree from dec to feb
You could redeed the tree dec to feb
you were not able to place trees mar to nov
If tree wasnt redeeded by feb then it would be deleted.

you all need to develop some compassion for these trees. We dont want sosaria to suffer from global warming.
Everyone knows trees help to reduce greenhouses gases

I have no memory whatsoever of any of this, I don't think I was rich enough to have a tree (let alone a house) in 1999... but my impression from the patch notes would precisely match your recollection.

Kelektra is correct. There were always limitations on when you could place the xmas trees and you could always redeed them during that time. They came as xmas presents for everyone, you didn't have to buy them. Probably dependent on how long you had your account possibly, what gift(s) you could choose. I've read that at a later date, during the non-xmas season, you could place the tree as a normal evergreen without ornaments. You could flop the deed between xmas or normal, but I don't recall the date that came in.

I will say though era accuracy or not, I enjoy seeing the few xmas trees and wreaths around all year, such as at the Yew Bank Mall, and would hate to see this changed for era accuracy. Yeah, yeah, cherry-picking, I know, I'm against that too.

Well one way to fix it is OSI infamous "grandfathered rule"

All trees already placed now, stay. In houses, on land, etc

This xmas, Kelektra rules in effect!!!
Really, it should just be called that from now on.

Or, you just let them be "grandfathered" until after winter when they need to come down anyway. That way you preserve era-accuracy.

But grandfathering items already in game is completely 100% era-accurate.

PS.. i do not have any xmas trees up in any of my houses, so i really dont care either way. Just making a point of how OSI always handled changing of an item that was already in game.
