UO Second Age

can someone post this? i'm brand new to UO and can not find any thread how to do this. i'm making a thief so i can hopefully rob some houses like you guys, but i don't understand why my steal skill can't take stuff from houses or vendors.

When you get inside a house (through a gate or you stealthed in), you basically put stuff in a bag, gate the bag, come back for more.
