Can you make a sheep ranch?

I thought sheep farms didnt' work because wool respawn is based on the number of sheep in the area? Is this only if you stack sheep?

This is only if you stack them on the same tile.

They respawn slower if you have more in the house. For example, 32 sheep in a tower spawn slower than 16 sheep in the same tower (one per tile).

I've also found that if I fill a tower, all four levels, the roof spawns the fastest. Followed by the third floor, second, first.
