Table Dancing...

Post by Robbbb »

Currently you cannot walk onto a table or crate or anything even though you are above it. But back on Oct. 11, 1999 you could.

Actually I believe you can do it by building the barrier up higher than one
level. The mushroom thing works because stepping on one raises you a tiny
bit, allowing you to step on a table or crate. I have had no breakins in 3
houses using barriers with obvious loads of loot to be had. When I found out
about this cheat I made all my barriers higher than just a table. 2 tables, a
table with crate, 2 crates, shelves, easels, guildstone, crate on top of
anvil, all seem to be good.

ERA accurate for a snippet of time perhaps, but indicative of the T2A era as a whole? I think not...

That post is from the end of our era, which means that it was probably still in effect past November 1999.

By your logic every patch that is within 4-6 months of our cutoff date is 'not indicative of the T2A era as a whole'...

while i can't remember how osi had it i do know that on the pol and sphere servers tables were in fact able to be walked across as long as you were stepping from something higher than it. table wasn't required to be locked down either. I'm pretty sure this doesn't help at all but i dunno common similarities?

So, you're asking for a bug to be added that would allow for home break-ins then? Shouldn't this suggestion just be added to this thread since you are asking for such: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20526

I can't see how this would enable more house break-ins, unless there is an item that, when not locked down, enables z-axis change (as the special "mushroom" item was doing). I'm unaware of any such items on UOSA (I'm quite possibly wrong, though).

Well, hmm.. I suppose there might be some issues with tower overhangs, though, but I don't know.

Game breaking exploits should never be allowed to be added to the game no matter how accurate they may be.

People were banned for using this exploit among other house looting exploits as well as discussing them on public forums once an account name was acquired. Shall we then, according to era accurate rules, ban you for bringing it up?

UO Second Age does not replicate era accurate rules, only mechanics.

I am not bringing up the exploit, just the fact that you could walk onto a table if you were higher or the same z-axis as it. So basically right now if you were ontop of the bank roof and someone surrounded the bottom edge with tables you wouldnt be able to walk off the roof...this is not how it was back then and not how it should be now.

We dont have those mushrooms here so it shouldnt be a problem.

I dont think OSI banned people for making suggestions on how to fix/improve/destroy(whatever you want to call it) the game did they??

Im not implying we add an exploit. There are ways to implement this without you being able to use this exploit...

I've tested this on UOSA, and this looks to be the same issue with the passable flag discussed in the thread with brambles. Even if you can get on top of a table, you cannot walk on it, probably because the client has been told that tables are impassable.

Actually there was a lot of that going on because of Stratics playing buddy-buddy with OSI and giving them the IP addresses of the people discussing exploits on their forums and OSI went ahead and banned pretty much all of them.

You don't remember the controversy on Stratics over all that?

I do, but informing the community of a current bug and suggesting something about the game be changed is two totally different things.

Well you wouldnt need to 'walk' on them, just land on it and move to the next tile that is passsble.
