It is quite clear that you're thinking about the UOR era when loot tables were changed. The loot that is distributed for Poison Elementals are actually WAY off on here currently. However, this is not in the direction that is stated above. Poison Elemental loots was actually quite poor during this era.

Poison Elemental: DR: 9 OR: 10 OTR: 10 Fame: 4
Poison: LEVEL 5 Magic: 7th Tame: N/A Karma: 4
Loot: 150 to 300 gold, Magic Items, Gems

Commonly Found: Lower Levels of Shame, Lower Levels of Deciet
Remember to refrigerate your Mayonaise or you'll get one of these. The most dangerous of all the elementals, the Poison Elemental is a very formidable enemy. Worse than liches, these aweful monsters can cast 7th level spells and take tremendous amounts of damage as well. It is possible to kill them alone, but I'd give it a miss if I were you.

Killing Tips: Get one of those big, red, Daemon-like things to help you.

Anyone research the poison level that poison eles drop. I don't think they dropped lesser...

700 something gold, a poison potion, 3 or 4 nightshade and an occasional weapon, armor, or wand. (seems to be a power weap when one drops).

Also an occasional map!

Haha, woops. I read it and was like, "weird, I don't think he's played in ages, and now he shows up to talk poison ele loot?!"

Anyways, my recollection is that 700 gold is actually high for T2A for these guys. They were by far the worst monster to try to farm, between their subpar gold, their insane poisoning, and I believe in fact they have the highest AR of any monster in the game, even higher than an ancient wyrm or balron.

For some reason... I remember blood elementals being harder... (Though based on the discussion here I assume I might be wrong in my recollection) Just curious to see if there is anyone else who remembers the same.

And per another post above $700 was a huge drop back in T2A.... I only really remember dragons dropping > $1000.
